Cross faction mounts

Just as a hypotheticial.

Lets assume that in 10.0 Blizz implements cross faction grouping/raiding/guilds. There is no horde, no alliance just Azeroth’s greatest defenders. Should all mounts then be availble to all races.

A gnome riding a kodo? A tauren riding a mechanostrider, Orcs riding Nightsabers?

Blood elves riding Jaina - errrr… nevermind… thats something else *quickly closes fanfic

So what do you think?

If I remember correctly there was a time when it was that way.

Sounds great!

They technically already are.

Gnome on a kodo? Frightened or Brewfest.

Tauren on mechanostrider? Not that I recall but idk why you would.

My orc rides a nightsaber from the warfronts.

If you mean the specific ugly models from vanilla, then I doubt it anytime soon.

If it happens, it should be a sorta prestigious thing that involves doing things on both factions, I think. Kinda like the Bloodflank Charger/Ironclad Frostwolf in BfA.

The Mechanostrider is the only Classic mount that has no cross-faction option. If you want to include specific models, this also applies to the Classic Wolf and Horse as well, though we’ve had plenty of cross-faction variants over the years, and if you stretch it to Cata, the Goblin Trikes join the list of exclusives.

It should already be this way regardless of cross-faction. Really silly that mounts care about your faction. I’d love to use my orange raptor on my ally character. Wouldn’t want to break someone’s roleplay immersion though!

Fine by me.

The factions mean pretty much nothing to me, except that they serve as a barrier that keeps me from really enjoying playing the game. (Sigh. I miss being a draenei…)

Personally my dream scenario would be that cross-faction grouping and trade is fully allowed, but minor restrictions like mounts being locked to faction or the PvP sets being different colors stay in for a little bit of faction identity.
