Cross Faction Guilds

How much longer do we have to wait for this feature?

I’m tired of micromanaging two guilds worth of stuff.

Apparently quite along time. They have no plans for it yet.

Create a community that has members from both guilds. At least that will let you combine the members into one organization. Nothing can be done about inventory management yet.

That doesn’t in any way solve banking.

That doesn’t help with banks.

Yeah, I added that as you were typing.

Ah… lol Fair enough!

Probably many years, if ever, the technical barriers are too steep. You can’t have cross-faction anything in the open world unless they remove factions from the game entirely.

Could you have a cross-faction “guild” where people can’t quest together or visit the same cities or trade with each other? Sure. But I wouldn’t call that much of a guild.

This will be weird…

Nonsense. Where are you getting this perspective from? A character is a character. That a character is Alliance or Horde is just data in a table.

We can already run raids, dungeons, and battleground together. There’s nothing special about being alliance or horde character that makes any of this impossible.

Considering they originally had it slated for some time in DF, this is false.

No one is talking about open world.

Rift did and it worked great. It was one of the major highlights that brought people back for a while.

Okay. I mean, I told everyone that cross-faction groups would come with a long list of restrictions about what they could do in the open world.

And everyone said I was wrong, and then cross-faction groups happened and they had a long list of restrictions about what they could do in the open world.

But sure, whatever.

Considering that Blizzard hasn’t implemented any of the changes you are requesting you are left with the possibility that Brewa is right and there are technical barriers that are preventing it…or Blizzard just doesn’t want to do it.

I personally agree with Brewa’s assessment of the situation.

What could possibly be the “technical barriers” that you think exist?

I’m curious.

FYI I’m a game developer/programmer so feel free to be technical about it.

:face_with_raised_eyebrow:

They literally told us originally it was slated for DF…

And no one is asking for open world content. Anyone who ever played Rift understands what we’d be getting: a guild and bank together for communication purposes. Open world content was never asked to be included.

Oh, you’re one of those guys…

You know what. Sure, you are right. Blizzard is refusing to let you have cross-faction guilds specifically to spite you. They have the capability to instantly open it all up but they refuse to push the button because you asked them to. That seems to be the only explanation that you will accept.

I’m sorry that Blizz hates you. Better luck next time.

You might be able do some content together but there’s a lot that is tied to your faction. Without eliminating that, a lot of open world content is rather exclusive.

For example, say you and your other faction friend want to level through BfA. Which zones do you quest through? Are you protecting Zul’dazar or assaulting it? Which NPCs are hostile and which are friendly? Which scenario do you go through to start the expansion?

The only Open world content were it would even matter from a player perspective would be Warmode. It’s not even a technical issue (see any FFA arena in the world).

Incorrect. All of BfA and all of Vanilla zone questing is faction based.

No one needs cross faction open world. That’s not the subject here.

Who’s flag leader of the party?

That’s the character that determines which faction content you are doing.

And to be fair, faction only content is the exception, not the rule.
