Cross faction got blizzard on and is lacking

After 10 years of playing WoW I finally thought my biggest gripe with the game was finally going to die, but no, its still terrible the PTR for cross faction came out and it seems like they are only sticking their toe in the water for cross faction while leaving so many other things out.

You can invite someone to an instance but only for raid’s and dungeons in the world meaning you can’t just queue up with people on your battle net for random BG’s and Random dungeons.

Blizzed up.

If your in a group with someone from another faction and you both have pvp on you can just murder each other out of no where and thats going to cause a lot of trolling

Blizzed up.

You cant use a summon stone when in a cross faction instance group with the opposite faction meaning that if there is a horde and an alliance together they can’t summon other people to the dungeon.

Blizzed up.

Come on this is so aggravating, seriously? I can’t be the only one who feels heart broken! me and my friends have never been able to get really into this game because some of us like horde and some of us like alliance. After playing other mmos, i can confidently say that factions are just really stupid. For flavor they are fine, but splitting a playerbase and causing the ultraneckbeards to get tribal is just detrimental to every game that has it

I’d imagine trying to make this work on a game this old is a nightmare. There’s inevitably a lot of spaghetti code and I can’t imagine how much breaks with every single thing they try to change.

This seems like a (good) start.

I guess y’all have to do m+, normal+ raid, and rated pvp! Blizz isn’t going to make things convenient unless you play the way they think you should be playing :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

In all fairness, this is probably some last ditch effort for them to “save the game” from Shadowlands. It’s bound to be a horrific nightmare.

The [potentially] good thing is they’re committing to it. Over time it’ll heal and get better.

I hope.

Yeah, I saw a video on just about everything you can and can’t do cross-faction. There’s barriers all around the idea. I admit, I got confused on its purpose in its current ideation.

It’s like getting a steak and 80% of it is just extremely chewy fat. The other 20% is consumable, and nutritious.

To be fair though, anything is subject to change. It’s believing that Blizzard would actually perform any tweaks, is the issue.

It’s heart breaking, I feel so dang upset, and I’d say some swears to express my anger but even on the forums I can’t! IM SO ANGRY AND UPSET I DONT KNOW WHAT TO FEEL LMAO.

We have to ask ourselves what the point of cross faction grouping is in the first place.

There is only one answer.

The Alliance is a dying (dead) faction.

Cross faction play is a bandage on a much, much bigger problem.

Perhaps post your concerns on the PTR forums in a bullet-form manner? At least you’ll be expressing your issues where there’s a hope a developer may pay attention to it.

Some of those seem like oversights, for sure.

The summon thing makes sense, the no random bgs/random dungeons makes sense (who does heroics anymore?). Realistically, that’s all probably spaghetti code related and you’ll just have to accept this game has been out since 2004.

Didn’t Blizz say they were going to start small with cross-faction features and continue developing them after 9.2.5? Or did I imagine reading that?

I fully expect this to be the kind of thing they iterate upon over time. Both in the 9.2.5 ptr and in future patches.

I agree this seems silly. But there may be some big underlying coding issues that complicate it.

This is wonderful.

Yeah that’s very silly. It’s in ptr. Put in the feedback and hope for the best.

Don’t get rude because people like a fundamental aspect of the game. I agree with you on most of your points but you really undermine it at the end with this kind of crappiness.

I imagine Blizzard was working towards this for 10.0 and expedited everything thanks to the royal disaster that is Shadowlands covid. They’re not one for sporadically making drastic changes to the game.

So in that sense, the code is probably all dissected and discovered. The issue now is the re-write/development process. We’re going to be beta testing this in prod for a while.

Sadly, the solution is something many players here are not open to. I’m one of them but not the entirety of it. I’m against multi-classes on characters, but I do want all classes on all races.

It’s what we need though. That, and lots more. Factions gone for good. Neutrality across the board. Multi-classes. New ways to create factions for World PvP (Maybe Guild PvP? Alliances between Guilds? I dunno). The Horde vs Alliance aspect is dead and gone.

I’m actually in favor of removing factions as well.

This will drive me from the game tbh. Grouping together like baine and anduin is sooooooooo cringeeeeee

Either way, Blizz seems to lose. Alienate the many folks who enjoy the faction aspect or the other half who want it to be a FFA.

I still think that if they added a third faction of ‘we’re tired of this fighting thing, let’s try to work together’ like the cooperation we’ve seen in BfA and SL, you can find some sort of middle ground. Still have the rabid faction folks in both sides and they can dislike the middle-grounders which leave room for cooperation and tension.

I still find this logic so silly, its something a lot of people tend to bring up as well, all im trying to say is that its not NOT normal for horde and alliance to team up, if the idea of horde and alliance working together you should have quit back in legion. This isn’t a new idea its been around for a very long time.

Times change undead, maybe its time to let go of your grudges.

I assume the dungeon/lfr queue restriction is there to kind of ease people into the idea. When merc mode first showed up for random BGs and Trashcan, there were lots of angry faction purists kicking people with false afk reports.

By making x-faction PvE opt-in at first, it should theoretically minimize a similar abuse of vote kicks. And as more people use and become acclimated to the idea, it shouldn’t be as big of a shock when eventually implemented to queued things.

As for PvP things, well, you can already sorta do random bgs with x-faction friends via mercenary mode and a countdown queue on voice chat. Granted, this doesn’t always work. I imagine the existence of merc mode probably complicates things for groups. Could be some weird bugs there with x-faction groups getting split up (or crashing the matchmaking server) if someone has the merc buff.

On the WPvP front, you should be able to be friendly with Sliver of N’Zoth or Censer (unless it’s bugged, haven’t tested it yet…). Obviously that would be limited to a few old zones, but they could and should just give us a new toy to do that everywhere.

You do realiaze in the lastvexpantion the horde massacred thousands of incocent people right, thats not a grudge, of course the worgan and NE will mit want to work with the horde they want them to payback those deaths with blood
