Has Blizzard given any reason why cross faction dungeon queue is not implemented? Is it technical reason? or is it some last ditch attempt to keep the “faction war going”?
Fairly certain it was the latter, though I think they’ve said it’ll be coming at some point.
Edit:
Yes, that’s the reason. Basically they don’t want to make die-hard faction fanboys mad by forcing them to play with the other faction. They want cross-faction play to be an opt-in thing.
Cross-Faction Queueing is coming, but only for full premades, since they’ve already made that opt-in choice by joining said group.
I’d say I’m glad for the change, but given that roughly 99% of the time I queue with friends it’s like 2-4 of us, it doesn’t actually help me. Who really happens to run with exactly 5 people regularly like that?
I mean same faction queue isn’t working either.
I was contemplating this after launch because we had a lot of frustrations with trying to do a cross faction group for leveling. I decided I would like to see a spymaster from the opposite faction available outside each main city. You speak with them and they provide you a magical disguise to “spy” on the opposite faction. While disguised you visibly appear as the opposite faction and all quests are from the opposite faction. This would allow you temporarily play with members of the opposite faction while still allowing the game to have faction specific quests.
Why not just have a check mark for “faction-only”?
Allows those of us who want to cross faction queue be allowed to do so. Those who are die hard faction specific can do so too.
Because they don’t want to force players into cross faction groups. They still believe this. And they’re working on implementing the ability for full groups to queue together.
Because it splits the playerbase even worse and “forces” people into cross faction anyway.
My guild since 2009.
Splitting the playerbase even more? You’re already splitting the playerbase into “people who want to cross-faction” and “people who don’t”.
The hardcore people who want to avoid the other faction can. It’s not different from having a voluntary box checked to let you get into a random group with cross-faction.
I’m more interested in playing with players cross-realm, cross-faction, that I’ve met through the years, not constrained to have at least four friends anytime I want to run dungeons with the character. This undermines the whole point of the dungeon finder tool.
You don’t seem to understand the queue times that would happen, thus forcing people into cross faction. Which is what Blizz does not want.
It doesn’t. LFD existed for a very long time before cross faction.
I personally only care about cross faction when they force me into a race change in an instance, like with Dazar’alor and the old CoT dungeons.
But I understand where Blizz is coming from, because I do know people who don’t want to run cross faction at all and don’t want to end up as the smaller portion who ends up being forced into cross faction just to get a queue to pop.
This is still an RPG and forcing people into things that break their own RPG flavor isn’t a good idea.
Have to step outside the little box and think of others.
Mists remixed shipped with cross faction queue basically by accident until the devs detected people having fun so at this point I don’t buy that it’s a technical limit.
It’s entirely about the last gasp of the WC2 fanboys trying to hold on to a zombie system, imo
My most cynical belief on that front is that the reason they haven’t implemented it that way, with an opt out, is that some of the devs are still profoundly in denial about how much the average player cares about the faction system and don’t want to have to face the reality that the vast majority of the playerbase does not give a damn about the football team nonsense beyond aesthetics, which is ultimately mostly down to race.
The situation would basically remain the same except realistically the hardcore faction brained would experience the fun of doing queues as the minority faction even on a server where they’re in the majority faction. Frankly I think they deserve it more than they deserve to have their feelings catered to.
I’d like to be able to do random stuff on my ally toons without having to pick a different realm or having to have a full premade
It bothers me that we can’t queue with friends because of people who should be playing classic if they want “faction war pvp”
The war is over. Let Orcs into Stormwind.
