At least for servers with dead factions simply low factions, this could save so many servers facing complete server death. It blows my mind that the technology is there and isn’t being done, at least for select servers. Like, PvP queues were so bad they’ll enable same faction BGs but not cross faction AH?
We have that in game already…
booty bay.
This is one of the things that drives the hold-outs away from servers that are losing pop on one side. I’m seeing it on my server right now alliance side. Things on the AH just don’t exist or they are insanely priced.
Even though I’ve played both sides and by transferring through neutral AH I’ve made a fair amount of gold flipping I’d be ok with this change. It’s probably too late for most though. Yes the Neutral AH exists obviously but you need to go to a goblin city. No one puts stuff there and the cut is 15% so it’s irrelevant for what this topic is discussing.
Apologies. Didn’t realize I’d have to explain. Yes, goblin cities have a neutral AH but it’s independent from the regular AH. Plus, no one is going out of there way to use a dead neutral AH at an increased price cut at that.
What I’m proposing is linking all auction houses together to form one large AH. Much like the one that exists on retail today. Again this would only be for servers with an extreme faction imbalance.
They are in stv. Gaget and winterspring.
And no to xfaction auction houses. That’s not even in retail.
Just transfer to a better AH
Yes it has been in retail for a long time…
Edit: And yes to cross faction AH. With server pops on most realms drastically imbalanced, this could prevent total die-off. I feel like not wanting this means you either dont play classic, or you dont play on one of the many dying pvp realms as part of the minority faction.
They’re giving us free transfers.
Take your cross faction AH back to retail where it belongs
You should go play that version and don’t look back.
imagine having your opinion while you sit on pagle, a PVE realm with 8200 active alliance and 0 horde. The alliance on that server own 99.9% of the economy and you have driven all horde off the server.
Now imagine you are on alliance with a server pop of 7-8k, of which only 1200 is ally and dwindling fast. your economies death rapidly approaching forcing you to either transfer or stop raiding because you dont have the time to farm all of your own consumes, and even if you did you had massive competition that you dont even have access to buy from at a later point.
You arent even part of the relevant sample of players that this would affect at all. Want to trash the idea? use some actual points instead of anecdotal garbage.
No

This is correct and I kind of mentioned it in this thread before.
Take Earthfury for example, but it could be any server with one side pretty much dead. There are a few hundred active alliance players. The ally AH is basically non-functional and you pretty much have to farm everything yourself. The Horde side is fine and because I play the horde side too I’ve been selling stuff to myself using the neutral AH and listing it on the horde AH to sell it and then buying stuff from the horde AH that isn’t totally overpriced for my ally and using the neutral AH to get it over.
Does this really make sense that you need two accounts to play properly?
So many realms are like this now it’s not even funny, what is funny is seeing someone on a 100% server talk about not linking auction houses when it’s totally irrelevant to them to begin with.
There are changes I wouldn’t have agreed with before but will agree with now and this is one of them. The bad AH drives the last few raiders away from servers like this. That’s just a fact.
Sick alt. Post on your main xD. See my response below. Imagine loving classic so much you’d rather kill it than make a change (that already exists in classic and retail) that wouldn’t actually hurt anyone. So toxic. Yikes.
Okay and what of the flip side of the same problem? PvP queues. Blizzard implemented same faction BGs to help alleviate long queue times for factions that are in the overwhelming majority. That is a PvP problem due to faction imbalance. The auction house is a PvE problem due to faction imbalance, yet nothing is being done for that?
Your take is simply a toxic one and players like you are why the game will die if it does. A change to the auction house does nothing but help prevent dying factions on specific servers. Again, let me reiterate because I feel you missed it, this is something I wanna see ONLY for servers with a gross faction imbalance. And as someone else pointed out, you’re on Pagle, your contribution here is pretty meaningless when you’d be the first one to cry about the auction house and transfer off (like you probably already did). So please, sit down.
They have yet to define ‘low pop’ servers. So servers with med+ pop could be excluded, even if 99% one faction.
Incorrect actually. This has been in retail since 6.0.2 (WOD). Please do some research before jumping in a conversation.
they also have to define yet the rules to which realms and which faction you can actually transfer
Players such as yourself are the definition of the current state of wow. Let that sink in.
There is already cross faction auction houses but you’re not allowed to use both sides on the same account. I recently wanted to move some stuff only to get text saying “you can’t do that,” so I had to get someone from my guild to come help. This restriction is really stupid. Why is this still in the game???
Didn’t even know that was a thing.
Ironic coming from someone who clearly has their main on a mega server. Something that never would have existed in the past. You’re just a troll, a bad one at that. I’m done responding to you.
