Cross character currency API?

hi there

seeing that currencies on all characters can now be seen when we mouse over them, is there an API for it now ? id like to get the “total” number without doing it the old school way of logging it alt, storing in SVs and so on

I looked at all the C_Currency but couldn’t find any that returns the total amount of a currency

how does the ui gathers than info without having to log on alts

I believe that function GetBasicCharacterInfo(guid) is only available to Blizz. at the character select screen and not once you’ve entered the world ie. not to 3rd party addons.
