I cannot believe nobody has been screaming to fix the priest healing bug where every so often one of my heals doesnt heal my tank but heals myself while I am still targeting them.
Do you know how bad this is??? In some situations it has caused my target to die as they were very low and other situations it has caused me to run out of mana because I have had it happen twice in the same fight.
The reason I am not playing on private servers was because I thought they were all glitchy and bugged but we are paying for this???

Not had this issue personally, try releasing alt and healing.

Iāve never had this happen in classic (nor the 10+ years healing in retail) but I donāt target to heal, I use Clique and the unit frames. Maybe try disabling the Auto Self Cast in the Interface Options, Combat section?
Does your alt button have stickies in it?

I havenāt come across this issue. I use mouseover macros, though.

Most likely explanation is that you have a self cast key set up and are accidentally hitting it. Check your settings and report back.

Let me guess, you downloaded a hotbar addon and the heal you are having a problem with is bound to alt+(number). You arenāt the first person Iāve encountered to experience this problem. Itās either you have self-cast bound to your alt key still, or your addon isnāt set up correctly.

This is good news if you guys are correct, having an overlooked bug this big in the game really turned me off the server. I will check my bindings and hopefully find the key close to my heal bind
Iāve literally never had this happen and I also donāt know why auto self-cast is the default. I nearly always just target the tankās target and then hit my spell then click the raid frame of who I want to heal. I cannot imagine constantly switching targets to heal, then switching back to contribute dmg with wand.

Oh:P no its pretty clean, but hereās the thing. I donāt use the conventional keys that everybody else uses. My spells are bound to my num lock keys. 8,5,4,6 are movement, so its no where near my alt button
It happens to me as well. I thought it was because of a bug with Elvui. If you are not using this addon, then it must be a blizzard bug. Let me know how I can support you making the report to get it fixed - because yes - it has killed the tank once or twice.

Oh good, so i am not going crazy. We must be doing something the others are not, otherwise everybody would be complaining about it since its such a critical bug.

Havenāt had the issue either. I also have very different key-binds than most and in fact I use multiple methods for casting my heals: When my mouse is inside the Vuhdo frames I have specific macros set-up through vuhdo, when my mouse is not within the vuhdo frames I use macros that I set-up myself and cast different spells based on the current shapeshift form Iām using (Cat, Bear, caster, etc).
And I think one or two of my binds are just the heal straight-up with no macros, some of them have mouseover casting functionality through Bartender but my buffs donāt and they are just the plain spell that gets casted on my target, all of them work as expected.
Anyway, in summary I basically use 4 different methods for casting my heals/buffs and they all work as intended in every situation for me, I think thereās a good chance thereās something speciffic to your character or your personal set-up that might be causing the issueā¦ Could be the self cast thing other people suggested, or idk maybe lag spikes and your target is already dead so the spell is cast on yourself?
No definitely not lag or anything like that (i always have 3ms). This is what i saw last night ā>
Was almost out of mana and my target - tank was selected, he was almost dead, I healed him back to half then he took damage and then I hit the same greater heal spell just after the first cast was done and I saw 1400+ floating combat text on me and then he died and we wiped.
Iāve been having this issue lately, but hereās the thingā¦ I then ctrl+click to target the tank, and even though Iām clicking their bar, it targets a random dps which my heals had been going to the whole time. Iāve tried removing all of my adding and starting again, Iāve even found the āAuto-self cast out of combatā garbage option that exists for no reason but to anger healers, and I am still having the issue
Have you tried using mouseover macros to heal/dispell?
Targeting seems so clunky.
