Crimes of the Elven Race

For the record I mean this to be tongue and cheek

I like elves fine. They’re rarely my faves in a given setting but usually top 3, and I’ll always make an elven destruction wizard when possible.

But it’s kinda weird they seem to be the only war criminals that go unprosecuted by the narrative, right?

Kael’Thas sorta got it but it looks like he’ll be hanging out in vampire heaven for the rest of eternity. Which really doesn’t sound too bad. Garrosh exploded.

I guess Zul’Jin’s also there but no real sense of his fate yet and I doubt he’d vibe with the Venthyr. That guy may’ve gone too far in some places but his anger and militancy were 200% justified.

I guess Illidain gets to buzz around slashing Sargeras for the foreseeable future. Which frankly is probably heaven to him so, guess what happens in Outland stays in Outland.

And Sylvanas’s fate is TBD but cmon its not going to be nearly as unpleasant as Garrosh’s. He was a grenade. Arthas just kinda poofs like a fart in the wind - and I was hoping for at least a final boss fight with him similar to Varimathras’s just for old time’s sake if nothing else.

And let me be clear - they are all hot. So, I get it. It’s just kinda funny when you think about it. I’ve no broader point to make here. I just think it’s getting a bit silly.

I would disagree with that. Plenty of other races have escaped punishment for their crimes.

Jaina, a Human, for example. She suffers no consequences for the Purge of Dalaran. In BfA, the Blood Elves are shown to have members canonically angry about it - but Horde Players and Blood Elf Players still quest with her like she is the Warchief.

And then we have her involvement in the slaughter of civilians in Dazaralor and the regicide of its leader (Rastakhan). Before that, her role in trying to keep a princess and heir of a sovereign kingdom (Talanji) imprisoned in Stormwind. As well as her failed attempts at genocide when she twice sent water elementals to Orgrimmar. If a foiled murder can get charges of attempted murder, an attempted genocide should garner some punishment.

Then we have AU Grom, an Orc. I will admit, this one is arguable. He got away with his crimes and he went on leading his people for a while. The hostilities of the past were put behind, and they were all friends. But something new came between their people.

Some might he say he got a sort of karmic justice eventually, but the people who killed him forgave him for his previous crimes and killed him because of new hostilities, so it isn’t really justice for the initial crime.

AU Grom is like forgiving a man for killing your family, to the point that you become his friend… but then killing him 40 years later for other reasons… because you think he is going to destroy the world… so it isn’t really as justice for his previous crimes. But maybe I am nitpicking.

That might be closer to the point.

What can I say, elves could start fertilizing world trees with corpses and people would beg for more

Okay fair.

Sylvanas proves hot person on hot person violence also goes unprosecuted. So I guess Jania torpedoes my argument about the elves.

It’s just very funny to me Garrosh was so mad, he actually, literally exploded. I thought it was a hell of a badass send off and tbh I think w/e Sylvanas winds up doing isn’t going to be as harsh or sadly anywhere near as cool.

Like I kinda figured if the Banshee Queen broke bad she’d go out like a proper villain. Really this has just been the worst of both worlds.

Right? I wish we learned more about Zul’jin’s future fate but at this point I have lost all hope for that.
Clearly the writers forgot about him, if they ever intended to do something with him at all instead of leaving him to rot in that Venthyr cellar forever.
I guess they thought the broken chains were a funny reference that he escaped once more ( and it kinda is ) but man, I wish there was more than that. He is still a hero for most troll fans.

The Amani have the Defias problem of having absolutely nothing but a perfectly legitimate greviances that completely justifies wrathful militancy.

But get so over the top with doomsday vengeance plans that yes they must be stopped.

In an ideal future northern EK I figure the forest Trolls now lead by the Revantusk from Jintha’Alor would start to reestablish a presence in the Plaguelands.

The forest Trolls really got it raw despite not really doing anything that unreasonable at first. The elves were only managing to hold the line until they got the humans to attack by teaching 100 of them how to shoot fireballs.

And tbh can’t really blame the humans that’s a hell of an offer. But they promptly get wiped out and become more desperate.

I actually think thered be an interesting resolution there with them being able to share the land with the Belves and Forsaken.

Some Forest Trolls might not relish that idea but the Zandalari are in the Horde now. So, let’s cut a deal here. I can’t see things getting to complete normalcy with the elves for some time but the Forsaken also like bats, spiders and posions so go play with them if you’re bored.

Not sure how much of a role hotness plays.

Azshara was the most beautiful Night Elf (and still is for people who are into tentacled monstergirls), and she kept getting her plans thwarted and her butt kicked as a raid boss.

Yes it’s high time we talk about how night elves caused a lot of issues on azeroth

Earnestly I find it weird that Zul’Jin is within Revendreth. Of course one cannot forgive the slaughter he’s committed and concocted against both Quel’Thalas and Lordaeron’s Human Kingdoms, allying the Horde, but there’s something awkward when an omnipotent and omnipresent deity deems subsequent actions of your people becoming a diaspora with their own homelands like hunted game, and rallying them after being tortured and escaping, to be the equivalent of Revendreth.

Maldraxxus would’ve been a better fit imho. I just find the idea of something external judges the peculiarities that’s life as a quaternary decision; with a choice of hell.

I find it weird he’s in revendreth when vashj is not. It’s so bizzare

Did you even do Revendreth? It is not “heaven”. It is WoW’s purgatory and he is literally forced to confront his sin/walk a path of redemption. This is not a vacation for him.

The night elves are guilty of many different crimes, I will list a few below:

Do not forget or overlook the planting of what would eventually become that giant weed. What a monument to vanity by the elves. A crime so foul against Azeroth and the natural order that the aspects initially rejected blessing it. I’m surprised the aspects didn’t burn the tree themselves!

Behind the guise of Elune’s devoted lies the most insidious ragtag band that Azeroth has ever known. Subjugation. Enslavement. Massacre. Observe as they slink from shadow to shadow. A creature of shadows born to meld with them. Their cowardly actions, surely a reflection of the blight that afflicts their souls.

I mean that’s kinda where the grievance breaks down.

The core of the Amani empire on maps was the part of the Ghostlands that’s not a playable zone (and covers almost 2/3 of the grographic area the zone is meant to represent since Outlands-Ghostlands is a tiny fraction of it if you compare the world map and the overland map) and the Northweald which is contained within Plaguelands entirely

Amani Plateau as a full zone could definitely be a thing if they ever fix the Azure Isles and Quel’thalas

And yes I feel it would be neat if the phased out the DK starting area into restored troll territories once you’re done with that storyline or if you aren’t a DK.

I find it weird he’s in revendreth when vashj is not. It’s so bizzare

I’m convinced the difference between going to Revendreth and going to Maldraxxus is whether you feel bad about the terrible things you did in life

I disagree in the strongest way possible.

Garrosh was hot, damnit.

After reading a few of the OP’s threads, they’re either woefully ignorant of any events happening in-game, or they are a troll… neither is gonna look very good on a resume mon.

OP provides a lot more interesting lore convos than faction hardliners do

Garrosh exploded… LIKE A BOSS!

…practically the only damn character in Shadowlands to get an ending worthy of them.

Seriously it was a hell of an exit.

I’ll of course reserve judgement until I see it for myself but I’m really hoping Sylvanas isn’t complaining about her childhood.

When Garrosh went out like;

I will tell you what :

She may be faking it even still.

I only buy that good girl act as far as I can toss a banshee cloud. But what ever gets the ball rolling.

Yeah if I recall he was in a very hard to find spot.

Did they ever say if that was a deliberate Easter egg?

I kinda suspected they maybe had a bad end for him already thought out. Then someone remembered he’s the most hard done by character in the story and that probably wouldn’t be received too well.
