Crimes of Grindelwald

Anyone else see this movie and enjoy it?

Haven’t got to watch it yet, with so much work the past two weeks, I honestly forgot it came out today. Hoping it is as enjoyable as the first Fantastic Beasts movie, or at least as entertaining!

I lost interest in the Harry Potter movieverse after noting how they butchered the Goblet of Fire and, what was the one after that? I didn’t even watch the Half-Blood Prince or the Deathly Hallows. As I am sure they’d some how screw those up as well.

Reading the books was a mistake! They ruined the enjoyment of the movies! Though, I didn’t read anything Fantastic Beasts (were they books?) related so maybe I can actually enjoy them.

They weren’t books i don’t think. J.K. just wanted to flesh out the character of Newt and elaborate on the times before Voldemort.

Alrighty then, I guess that makes me feel more comfortable with watching these movies.

I never really get to see movies in the theaters anymore. This one looks great though. Maybe I can see it.

It was really good. It had a really dark overtone compared to the first one.

I was excited to see a younger version of Dumbledore in it, made it interesting.

I will be seeing it on Wednesday and can’t wait.

Grindelwald has multiple secrets tied to him that are hidden. He knows much about the Dumbledore Family and not just Albus Dumbledore’s siblings, parents and Aunt!

We don’t even know for sure that Grindelwald hasn’t made a Horcrux as his words in the first Fantastic Beasts film(“Will we die just a little?”) may imply that he has one. Of course that leaves the matter of his remorse which would undo the Horcrux…

Of course since said remorse was him laughing at Voldemort telling him that he doesn’t fear death and instead welcomes it which of course may just be just another hint to the Horcrux which could be used to make him resurrect as a young man again(“Will we die just a little?”)!

Voldemort may have unwittingly handed Grindelwald his victory on a silver platter! All Grindelwald has to do now is resurrect at the same age as when he first made the Horcrux, stun Harry as soon as possible and steal the Elder Wand from where it was buried then proceed to grab the other Deathly Hollows!

It’s been a while since I have read the Deathly Hallows but didn’t Harry break the Elder Wand at the end of it? I know he did in the movies.

EDIT: Ah, looks like in the book he did put it back in Dumbledore’s tomb after all.

So which is canon the book or the movies?

Well, when it comes to the original Harry Potter stories (Philosopher/Sorcerer’s stone through Deathly Hallows) the books. Though, admittedly, it’s been so long since I’ve read the books that I long forgot about what changes each movie made that differs from the book.

When it comes to Fantastic Beasts, though, the screenplay seems to be written by Rowling herself, so the movies are Canon.

I’ve been meaning to reread the entire series again, but then I rememer how many books there are in the series and that the later one are FREAKING HUGE!

Considering how Rowling loves Plot Twists what are the chances that the movie after Crimes of Grindelwald reveals that Grindelwald is older than he claims and that his caretakers were under the Imperius Curse to sell the lie?

She made Nagini a Wizard(as the trailers showed) and revealed a previously unknown Dumbledore(confirmed to be one by the Phoenix hiding in his possession) so she could have grand reveals concerning Grindelwald too. Of course for all we know he’s actually Salazar Slytherin himself(the guy does use Snakes like him)!

It was good enough. I’ll start off by saying I loved the HP books and was just okay with the films; they were okay but not really great. I thought the first FB film was terrific, far better than I expected it to be. So that brings me to FB2.

I loved the new beasts, which I sincerely hope the franchise doesn’t stray from in the name of focusing on Dumb/Grind’s story. The Fantastic Beasts should always be there prominently.

Everything else…meh. This one falls victim to the errors of films that are intentionally designed as setup films for the franchise; they intentionally leave questions unanswered and parts of the story untold so that you’ll go see the next one and I hate that with a passion. Also, they brought almost every character back from the last movie but added several new ones so no one really gets any time to develop in the 2 hours-and-15 minutes of run time. Everyone’s just sort of crammed in there without enough story to keep them interesting. It was okay; I was entertained but not really blown away.

This movie was SO bad. So many unnecessary characters and a plot twist that made the entire plot of the movie pointless. Felt like this was just ruining what could’ve been a good HP universe movie just to force feed us more Ezra Miller because WB has some weird hard on for his mediocre acting skills. SO bad… and I say this as someone that’s very easy to please (I LOVE the Hobbit movies and I enjoyed the Last Jedi… I also enjoy BfA).

Saw it the other day with a co worker,it’s actually pretty decent. Jude Law made for a pretty damn good younger Dumbledore.
