Wyrm Crests are in an awkward spot yeah, the other 2 below you can get just doing open world stuff and high end content gives Aspect Crests.
Downgrading aspect crests isn’t really a good idea since they’re capped too.

I’m not in this situation yet but I do hope they would change that you don’t get anything if you’re already at cap on your current content. Reward lower crest fragments.
There is very limited need for aspects crests
if you had 2 crafted items and every slot hero gear right now you would still only need 4+4+14 or 22 crests, we’ve had 2 weeks of crests so you’re basically at the highest cap you’ll ever need barring more crafted pieces soon
When you downgrade an aspect crest into a wyrm crest it should take away 15 from your fragments on aspect and add 15 to your fragments on wyrm for that week. Right now if you downgrade an aspect into a wyrm you’re wasting an aspect crest you probably still needed either for 441 upgrades or crafting.
Yeah aspect crests are only used for 1 upgrade and then a craft, which is limited by the sparks anyway, so that’s only 1 every other week.

You are now, yes, but it’d be nice if whatever iteration of this system we get in future didn’t have this problem at all.
I wouldn’t have done a single key below a 17 this season if I didn’t have to go get wyrm crests weeks 1 and 2.
They’re discussing getting lower tier crests when you cap on higher tier.
Probably should just get the next lower crest when you get a higher crest, but that might be too much at once
But youre using less of them to upgrade gear anyway. 1 at most per piece of gear + 4 crests to make a 447 every 2 weeks.

Indeed. Seems the logical choice. Do they even give any extra things if you’ve reached cap, like dunno, extra gold in the cache or something, and how many runs does it take to get at cap?

This was S1 M+ Score (Rating) breakpoints to be able to upgrade to certain ilvls.

Valor is more like Flightstones, which you can’t hold more than 2,000 but it’s not capped. You can spend some and immediately go earn more.
If you are only doing 17s and higher, then you likely have more Aspect crests than you can use since for upgrades they’re only good for crafted 447 and M+ drops on that single upgrade from 437 → 441. There’s a vendor in the Niffen hub to downgrade your abundance of Aspect crests to Wyrm crests, which solves your problem (you don’t need to do +11-15 keys at all to get Wyrm crests).
I do think the trade from a higher difficulty crest to a lower difficulty crest should be 2:1 and not 1:1, but other than that, not an issue.

But also if you need multiple sets of trinkets, or alternative embellishments or want to gear your offspec etc.
Plenty of reasons to not waste your cap.
Aside from crafted gear none of those use extra crests
The maximum amount of aspects crests you would need per season if you had 100% crafted gear is 60
But realistically the most you will need is like 40, or 4 weeks of caps
Week 1: 10 wyrm crests for 5 upgrades and 9 aspect crests for 5 upgrades and 1 craft
Week 2: 10 wyrm crests for 5 upgrades and 10 aspect crests for 5 upgrades, 1 craft, and upgrading the omnitoken tier shoulders to 441.
So at the end of week 2 you had 1 spare aspect crest if you planned things out. 300 wyrm fragments and 285 aspect fragments used for upgrades.
90 for the heroic raid per week means you still need 120 wyrm crests from dungeons, that’s 10 11-15 mythic+ runs on top of whatever it took to cap aspects, and that’s time off running 17-19+ keys to farm actual upgrades.
I agree it’s a relatively small problem that affected a relatively small number of people, but when fixing it would have no adverse effects on anyone else…
Now that the math is in front of me i think i just did not have to spend as many crests as i got trinkets from vault and weapon dropped off last boss. Im also keeping the Onyx ring forever.
You also probably upgraded 428 / 424 items using wyrm crests. Personally I just did 431s
Nope. Ive converted over 5 aspects and like i said, never hit cap on neither wyrm nor aspect.
Why would anyone want more low level crest fragments. I mean I got 40 Drakes Crest setting in my bags now, I forgot how much of the low low level fragements I have at this point as I just chunk them in the bank in hopes of using them for something in the future.
I have been capped on Wyrm Crest for this week since Friday night.
