Morgan Day recently had an interview with Max and there was a question about crests and depletion which was maybe asked a bit weirdly but was also came with horrible answers…
My restated question is :
“Why is failing a key screwing you in the following ways?”
-
- Your key depletes.
-
- You get fewer crests.
-
- You get no score.
You are punished in not one but THREE ways for failing on top of the morale hit AND, something even more serious, is it also promotes leaving keys because when you realize it’s not likely or impossible to time you’re essentially wasting your time since you get no score AND no loot (especially true for people who don’t own the key).
I know there are (bad) arguments that exist about why these things are fine or good, but frankly they’re ridiculous. If you gave people the same exact crests to finish the dungeon at least they’d finish it.
Crest reward should just be removed from the penalty of failing keys. It literally ends up doubling the time it takes to upgrade gear meaning not only are you falling behind by failing you’re ALSO now extra falling behind because your gear progression is HALVED, and that’s assuming your dungeons even finish which a ton do not lol
Anyway, I hope Morgan reads this and/or posts and comments like it because this is CLEARLY a reasonable take and would benefit a vast majority of players experience in M+. I’m not gonna be reading this post after posting btw since conversations on here devolve into nonsense too often but I hope people can get on board with this since it’s clearly in favor of almost all M+ folk.
