Crest upgrade question

I was under the impression that if you had a piece of gear upgraded to a certain level, then for any future pieces of gear in that same slot, upgrading to that iLevel would cost no crests, only flightstones.

Is that wrong?

So… I have a Neltharic Shiv (dagger) upgraded to Champion 4/8. Tonight in raid, I got a Hellsteel Mutilator (also a dagger) that is currently Champion 2/8. But if I want to upgrade it, it costs Drake crests in addition to flightstones.

Is this a bug, or is this working as intended?

Yea thats wrong, you gota upgrade every piece

Not saying you’re wrong, but if I look at the upgrade costs for a glove BoP from the raid, it only costs flightstones up to the iLevel of my currently equipped gloves.

So, upgrade cost of first pair of gloves was flightstones and crests up to their current iLevel (224), but upgrading the second set of gloves is only flightstones up to 224.

Why is it not the same for my daggers?

When it comes to things like rings, trinkets, dual wield weapons, I believe it goes off your second highest one. So you gotta upgrade two of them but then after that you’re good

I genuinely can’t recall if my trinkets both cost crests, so you may well be right on that.

" Crest Discounts

For a given slot, once you obtain gear of a certain item level, either from upgrading or from drops, all future upgrades won’t cost any Crests to be upgraded. This discount is NOT account-wide. Rings and Trinkets require two of a certain item level to unlock the discount."

Thanks.

But that seems to indicate that since I have a 424 dagger, raising the other (currently lower iLevel) dagger to 424 shouldn’t cost any crests.

I think you need two weapons at that ilvl or above to qualify. Just like with rings or trinkets.

Have a quick questions regarding upgrading a 2H staff vs MH+OH combo.

Anyone tried to see if the discount works that way?

I currently have a MH+OH combo that I can upgrade to 437 but I am holding out for a 2H staff with more ideal stats instead. If I spend my crests on upgrading MH+oh would that give the discount for a future 2H weapon? or do they count as different slots?

Same with if its an INT staff vs AGI staff? Not too bad if those 2 are different but if its the case of spending crests on suboptimal MH+OH and not getting a discount for when I get a 2H then id rather just wait for the 2H

I’m in the same situation as well and looking to get more information regarding 2H staff vs MH+OH upgrades for Shaman. Any information is appreciated. I currently have a 2H staff but want to move to MH+shield; however, don’t want to waste the crests.

My warrior at least was able to upgrade a prot 1h/shield for flightstones only after upgrading an arms 2h sword for what it’s worth. One could assume the same applies to a staff for casters.

Can confirm it counts as weapon slot. Go ahead and upgrade your 2H. you’ll get the discount on 1H+shield
