Crest season max

so it’s Wednesday the day after reset and i’m already max’d on runed and carved crests. i ran 8/8 N lib and 4/8 H lib without even realizing i wasn’t earning any crests. i’m only playing one toon this xpac. it makes no sense to not be able to raise current gear ilvl to help get into content that offers higher lvl gear??

Same, i play other toon , cause i dont get the loot i want, but even if i get it i cant upgrade it x.x

that’s crazy. i don’t know why i never noticed this before. i cant understand the logic behind putting a cap on crests.

It’s for exactly this reason - to keep people from running 28 Bountiful Delves per week plus every difficulty of Raid plus as many Mythic+ runs as they still have time for, meaning they end up with 500 of each crest by the end of week 2 and all their gear is already 8/8 Champ and 4/6 Heroic/Mythic, plus they have Crests to spare for an Enchanted Gilded Crest the second they get a new Spark.

It keeps the no-lifers from getting literal weeks ahead and makes it so rest of us don’t feel like we have to run 80 things per week or fall behind.

so busting your butt and grinding for the best gear possible is out of the question but having your guild carry you (someone low geared) through heroic raids and Mythic + is ok ???

That’s an extreme… Example.

Th

They could increase the caps by 75 this week and we still won’t see maxed ilvl toons.

The real solution is to increase the amount of drops offered in raids and dungeons, and the barrier to entry to these forms of gear grinds needs to be lowered.

Delves Definatly need to offer more than 21 gilded per week.

Delves also need be able to be bountiful more than 1x a week.

And, no matter what type of content we do, they need to stop having. The exact same slot. Tien dropping over and over.

Ie getting 5 leg pieces in a row when other slots need the upgrade

The way things are now, it better to craft your own 675 gear than smach your head against the computer battling blizzards baloney and very purposeful supposed rng.

Yes! The latter is encouraging community building

At your ilvl you can do the more challenging content already. It’s difficult to get into things but with a nice guild they should let you come!

I always take this kind of thing as the “best played later” part of wow that Preach brought up years ago. They can’t let us make continuous progress because they are snaring everyone for the sake of an outlier case where some people would gear out fully in “a week” or whatever trope people throw at it. Blizz is always trying to solve problems that don’t exist by pulling on the reigns and keeping us slowed down. Time gated quests, crest caps, lockouts are all part of that.
There is a group of players like myself that if I were to no-life my main and get it geared I would pick up an alt and progress it. I like having multiple strong characters to choose from for content. With the “best played later” approach we’ve seen for years, I have very little incentive to pick up an alt and really grind hard because it will be met with caps and lockouts to hold it back.
If we want to be able to grind a characters gear and progress to cap without the hand holding we have to wait until late in the season when the cap is either high enough to not matter, or is removed completely from crests. We’ll still have raid lockouts, but with crests uncapped we can grind them and upgrade our gear regardless. By the time I’ve been held back by caps all season I really don’t get into gearing alts like I would otherwise. Hitting the wall and taking away the momentum week after week kills my drive to play more characters and instead I find myself doing a couple of things for vault slots and logging out for the week.
I know I may very well be an outlier in this case, but it’s something that has irked me for a long time in this game. I smashed raid, delves and ksm last week. By the end I had been capped for a while and hadn’t been recieving crests for anything I was doing. Felt kind of lame tbh. I won’t have time to play like that for another few weeks, but now all I need to do to hit cap is log in, open my vault and see nothing good, take the tokens, buy crests, spend those to buy gilded crests, do 3 T11 delves and a dungeon or two and I’m capped again. The game is designed to be played for 2 hours a week now lol.
I currently have two alts that are keeping up with cap too fwiw. Late in the season without caps and once goals are completed I used to have several. Heck in Legion by the end I had all classes fairly equal as alts to my main, mostly for the story and class halls. No way I’d do that now.

I think it’s good and it’s bad.

If there was no cap i would honestly just stick to solo 100%. I can do a delve at any pace and always get 11 runed. But … i did a few 7/8s even on my alt today and honestly I’m glad for it. Had a good time even tho we didn’t time the +8 darkness

Doesn’t really sound that extreme, people did it as far back as WotLK when it varied from raid tier to raid tier but people were attempting to run 10 man, 25 man, normal and heroic, so people were “forced,” to run between 2 and 4 raids to catch up and that’s not even counting smaller raids like Eye or obsidian sanctum

Hi friend i see you’re very upset about capping on the lower level bad player crest. Might i suggest running harder content that rewards higher level gear and gilded crest than you can wah wah about being capped on even more stuff. :violin:

Not saying the current Crest Cap system is perfect, but it’s probably for the best that it’s there. People would absolutely no-life everything in the first few weeks of a season and have near-max-ilvl everything and their 4-pc and some Gilded crafted items and they’d be pushing Mythic +20 and beaking Mythic raid progression at the start of every season.

Instead of posts about the crest cap, there’d be posts about falling behind and feeling pressured to play more in order to keep up even a little bit.

You could potentially get maxed out with all of the crests for the entire season in less than a week if crests weren’t capped.

It’s part of the progression system, and it gets to a point, especially Runed up, where they want to slow it down a bit and keep people from maxing out gear and stomp the content. You’ll get stronger as the season goes on, one way or another. That’s why it’s gated off.

I started late S1. When crests were uncapped I could just farm Withered for a couple hours, transmute them into Gilded and craft a ton of 636s. I was ready for S2 in around a week. That’s kinda wild.

That’s why the system is in place. It can be improved, and feel it has been improved S1 to S2, but that’s why the cap exists. Part of the progression and you plan around it. There’s merit to both getting your gear crafted and using them for upgrades.

WIth a little bit of luck on drops, it’s possible to be at the point where you’ve got all gear slots at 658 which means you can upgrade runed to gilded assuming you’re not maxed out on those. But that also depends on the content you’re running.

A small thing, but you can get 31 gilded per week from delves. Save your Delver’s Map and use it on an 11 for the extra 10 crests.

Its 7 per delve 3x at delve 11

Without the cap you would never get into groups because lfg would be full of people who would be 677 ilvl who farmed it out in 1 week getting their last crests

Well it’s so insane right now that it tskes over 30 minutes and sometimes more to get into a 10 group.

ONE of the biggest blunders is that people feel like lust us a must have.

So classes that have lust, get preferred treatment.

What nerfs to happen is that all classes get lust in mythic, period

3x7 from the chest.
10 from the delvers bounty map on an 11.

21+10 = 31

Lust is fair thing to want in a comp
