Seems to be wholly absent for some reason. Some folks want to experiment with gear and not be mandated to intentionally not upgrade. It feels bad to be told to run harder content with weaker gear at the expense of other party members and to smurf your upgrades.
Can we add a gear piece “destroy” method that refunds said crests?
It’s a huge turnoff to be given veteran gear track pieces but oops your adventurer track gear was upgraded and veteran track uses some of the weathered crests too, now you have to fall behind people who avoided upgrading weaker gear.
I just very picky on what I upgrade now. What I have started doing is only upgrading 4/8 then stopping. Honestly, above that you’re potentially wasting your stuff for minimal return because you’re most likely going to replace it with the next tier fairly soon. I think champion gear will probably be what I’ll be wearing for the long haul. If I get hero gear it will be surprising because I don’t play content high enough that drops it.
It’s asking for it to be done better, so that we’re not incentivized to skip upgrade tracks entirely and smurf our ilvl to play the timegate better.
The idea is to have a reason to spend your crests on lower tracks and engage with gear overall, not follow a minmax path and avoid upgrades at the detriment of other party members.
ie, a crest refund system should be added, where you get some back if you destroy old gear.
Okay, ask away. When we get a blue post confirming the change to make the upgrade track different I’ll personally come back in here and say hey, you were right. They do listen!
Well once you upgrade an item slot, any replacement wont use crests up to the same ilvl. Just stones. It only starts using crests again when pushing the next piece higher than the previous.
That doesn’t apply if you used crests on an upgrade 1 track lower that shared crests with 1 track higher. What you mentioned only applies to side grades of the same track, moving up a track does not have that mechanic.
ie, weathered crests on adventurer track don’t count towards veteran track. Not even for the ilvls of veteran below the adventurer track gear you just replaced.
Yes it does. Ive done it. If I upgrade a piece to a higher ilvl, if I replace it with a different track it still upgrades to the same as the previous piece without crests. Just stones. It worked like that in DF and still does
I had an 8/8 adventurer track gear replaced with 1/8 veteran gear in the same gear slot and it still ate all the weathered crests getting the veteran track to 4/8.
If it’s not supposed to work like this then Blizzard has a bug in their upgrade system somewhere.
Was it a ring, trinket, or dual wield weapon/shield? Cause with those slots it’s whatever your second highest level ring/trinket/weapon/shield is or something like that. So you have a 580 ring and a 570 ring and you get a new 570 ring you want to upgrade you’re still going to need crests, but if you have two 580’s and get a new 570 it won’t cost crests.
It does. Discount system looks at Ilvl, not item track. But if you’re upgrading rings/trinkets/DW weapons, then your lowest ilvl(or second to highest if you have multiple items for those slots) piece of gear for that type of slot is counted as highest progress and discount will work only to that ilvl.
i know i cant get em back but i just spent a zillion crests and then today of course my great vault dropped a better item gotta love it 9-10 weeks of progress to a dead stop
