Crest Cost Changed

They just updated Midnight crest costs. Now just a flat 20 per upgrade, crafts cost 80. Total for a single piece is now 100, down from 150.

This is acceptable and I am happy about this. The discount for alts was also increased to 50% from 33% as well.

Thank you blizzard for listening to feedback.

Nice change, really wasn’t happy with having tk spend 150 crests for max upgrade.

So 489 + crests You gotta grind and save .so about 12 weeks..I need to see the bis list ..I’m not doing the tier gear anymore it’s too expendable..

Holy crest grind batman..

But I’m going to craft my gear this expansion.. no matter what..because I love doing that.

Create enchant and gem it .it’s all good

I’m even going to craft my stave and a fishing pole..

3 months is definitely respectable considering each tier should be roughly 6 months. i dont see the issue

This. I find they actually try to implement player feedback when they can.

I also play Darktide and the developer fatshark…communication is a fraction compared to Blizzard.

Great change Bliz. Also the crest cap is 100 instead of 90 so we can gain a bit there. Still slower than tww but not too much

Thank god!! So it will be more manageable. I’m just in it for the mythic sets through delves.

This reminds me of gas going up by like $2/gal, then it comes back down $1 and everyone acts like its cheap again even though its still actually up $1 still.

People in here praising Blizzard now for crests going from 15 to 20 per upgrade.

Its going to be a little bit better in Midnight. Once you unlock your 4 set, you unlock the ability for additional catalyst charges to drop from content.

Its actually less gilded overall than TWW since hero pieces only cost runed now at all upgrade ranks. Also hero 5/6 and 6/6 overlap into 1/6 and 2/6 myth so any piece you are replacing from hero 6/6 is effectively free to upgrade to 2/6 myth thus saving even more gilded crest.

The crest economy is even better than TWW despite the upgrade cost seeming higher at a glance.

The gilded crest economy may be. But you actually need to be at hero 6/6 before you get that free myth 2/6, and many mythic crests also go into crafting which is now 80 instead of 60 also.

I don’t think there is any huge deal. For people running mythic raids or getting 10s right away and into mythic gear early, maybe it will indeed be better.

At worst case scenario its a neutral change. The difference would be marginal either way.

I always thought hero track gear costing gilded to upgrade was stupid to begin with. Each track being tied to their own crest type is a very welcome change.

Also good riddance valorstones.

What I’m curious to see is how many mythic crests are available from delves. Throughout TWW, delves have given enough gilded to keep up with sparks to be able to craft the highest crafted gear, even if you don’t do any high keys/raiding.

I anticipate getting to mythic crests fairly quickly in keys, but wonder if that delve option will remain for crafting for those who dont.

This is how AAA game publishers operate, and it’s particularly clever since calling it out makes less perceptive people run damage control by accusing you of being “ungrateful” or “entitled.”

The key is to keep good news separate from the news-giver. These reductions are good, objectively, just don’t let that acknowledgement turn into worship.

Last I saw, Gilded stashes give 5 Myth crests, but you can get 4 per week for 20 total (after you unlock it at level 4 of delve journey). Not sure about the bonus bounty chests.

Another example of them implementing a terrible change, getting major flak, pulling back to give us something better than planned but still worse than the current implementation and being praised for it.

Happens every time.

That’s how we went from expansion packs to loot boxes after all.

If they want gear to take forever to get like in Classic they need to make it have more weight. Right now gear has never been more disposable and they had an entire track that no one used, I’m pretty sure zero people used Adventurer or Explorer track, but I could be wrong.

I guess if you literally do nothing in the game you will be stuck at Adventurer track??

Yes but also no.

What they changed it to based on feedback isn’t worse than what we have on live. You can’t just look at the increase of 15 to 20 (which ends up being about the same cost overall) and ignore the several other amazing changes they did to the upgrade system and say its worse.
