So what… 1200 cap vs unlimited cap, no difference Blizzard. The acquisition rate of crests is soo bad that it makes alt-ing so unattractive. Which I find very bizarre in what’s been shipped as an alt friendly expansion via warbands. This change is tone deaf to the real issues at hand.
Additionally the harbinger of the guilded achievement for the crest reduction is badly implemented at a 639 requirement. Many people use 636 crafted gear and ironically the crest cost is higher in the form of 90 to make versus 75 for a mythic upgrade piece.
Listen to your player base Blizzard and make appropriate changes!

Getting alts to full heroic raid level has literally never been faster. It’s alt friendly this expansion, it’s not even debateable how alt friendly it is.

The only crest cap that matters right now is for gilded crests.

Cool, so I can craft another gilded piece on my main.
Now if only alts were playable. Make the gilded crest discount only require 636 and/or increase all crest gain from everything because +3 for a delve and +5 for a deplete is actually insulting.

Delves shouldn’t be dropping any gildeds, honestly, and bricked keys giving rewards is more generous than it needs to be. Alts are perfectly playable, alts don’t need full 638.625 ilvl

I mean this is more a conversation of going beyond heroic raid level, which is a joke to be honest. The guilded crest grind is insurmountable at this point.

They should come from like 10-11 delves.
Nah, man.
I ain’t playing alts when it takes 90 8-10s to get setup.
Mine do.

You could get 240 crests per week fairly easy. What are you looking for?

Cool I guess.
I was nowhere near the cap for Runed or Guilded and the amount of Carved to trade up is still limited per week so nothing changes.
Still next to impossible to gear alts in a reasonable timeframe.
Theoretically one could now grind 4s and max out mythic gear you have. It’s slow and inefficient but certainly possible.
The cap should have been removed like a month ago at least.
It seems like a lot fewer people are running keys now so removing cap at this point is pretty meh.
Can now basically farm runed crests for gilded now. It’s something, for sure.
That likely won’t change because 5-12 per key is crazy when you need as many as you do.

Yep, either the drop rate needs increased or the cost of upgrades needs to be heavily reduced. I think blizz really messed up with the wombo-combo of increasing crafting crest costs, decreasing vault mythic ilvl, and increasing overall mythic tiers to upgrade. They put us in a hole that feels impossible for digging alts out of.

I can sort of understand it early-mid season on like one char but by mid season esp with alts it’s like hey we’re gonna suffer because most people are “done” and the only value they’re gonna get is alts which take too long to setup
They’re always a few months behind.
Crests are still faster than valor was, but I lose interest in going to 626 let alone 639. It’s terrible to do mid-high effort pugs for 8+ where groups just fall over on easy bosses or trash.
Blah blah something about ilvl coping
Idc if open world players get 639 tbh. I just want to play alts. Going to 619 is fast and easy. You can get there pretty casually in a lockout or 2. Gilded bracket feels so boring because of bad pugs and needing 90 per crafted piece
At this point I fully support warband crests and flightstones. I think the crowd against is like 100 people.
Only the cost of the enchanted gilded crest went up and by only 2 upgrades worth to adjust for the 2 extra upgrades to myth gear.
It mattered and its part of the reason why the crest grind is so brutal on alts.
If it is uncapped… can’t you just go earn more?
