Why is EAX 2.0 audio processing broken in the game? This can’t be that difficult of a fix, given this was a feature in the game originally. At the very least you should be given the option of switching what sound engine you’re using. The audio in this version feels flat and incredibly boring, with what sounds like no post processing to speak of. Game feels totally different when using EAX, echoes of voices in dungeons or the clang of swords echoing off the walls. Super lame to not have it, makes the game feel unfinished. There must be an audio wizard at Blizzard who is passionate enough to implement this, or am I the last person who uses and loves my Titanium HD?. EAX 2.0 can potentially run on any soundcard, so not having the EMU chip available isn’t an excuse. If there is a way to fix this I would absolutely love to know
Direct sound and Eax ran on 32 bit not 64. When Blizzard killed 32 wow they effectively killed EAX. It sucks I know.
Actually someone at Blizzard either read this and implemented it, or something happened. They added EAX as an option called Distance Filtering in the audio settings. This effectively enables the old EAX effects, it’s just not enabled by default. Either way thanks to the audio guys you rock! I think they added it around when sod came out. Also sound cards may not have direct access to the kernel anymore, but but even after windows vista some effects can benefit from hardware sound acceleration under OpenAL if you have something like a Titanium HD with the Emu 20K chip, it only stopped existing completely because of Creative
