Creation Catalyst, Tier Set appearence

Does the appearance change based on the Item Level?

If I turn my 262 chest into Tier, is it Heroic?

If I turn my 272 chest into Tier, is it Mythic?

Anyone can confirm?

lmao.

According to Wowhead,

Which Apperance Will Converted Pieces Take?

After researching, apperances seem to be tied exclusively to the item level of the resulting Catalyst piece, according to the following conversion:

  • Items of 249 item level or lower will take the LFR appearance

  • Items between 252 and 262 will take the Normal appearance

  • Items between 265 and 275 will take the Heroic appearance

  • Items at 278 or above will take the Mythic appearance

For the purposes of unlocking transmog, PvP items should be considered in their PvE item level, not their increased PvP one.

Edit: just converted a 272 piece and it’s flagged as mythic but transmogs as heroic.

Interesting.

Thank you for the information.

lmao.

I really wish I’d looked into that sooner. Got the LFR shoulders for my paladin from a sandworn piece. I was really looking forward to getting the normal color. What a bummer.

if its mythic + gear and you upgrade it once it reaches a certain ilvl it does upgrade in apperance as well. like going from normal appearance to heroic

I kind of hate this because it suggests that M+ exclusive mogs are unlikely to be a thing if you get raid mogs from M+ catalyst. Blizzard will make raid mogs and then let you get the mythic mogs via RNG slot machine 278 vault.

Would bother me less if 278 Valor upgrades for 3k IO was a thing.

Did the piece stay 246? Are you 6/6 in the Cypher system? Or did they revoke the ability to turn 246 into 252?

I’m just curious if it works how it was on PTR or they changed it.

Sandworn gear doesn’t upgrade.

You’re thinking of Cypher gear most likely.

Yeah I heard about that. I’m not 5/6 on my paladin, but I am on my DK, and I had a look at a sandworn piece on him first. The output piece appeared in the window as 246, so I didn’t go for it. I guess it’s possible the window just showed the wrong item level.

“Equipment purchased from Rafiq in Pigrim’s Grace, Zereth Mortis is now compatible with the Creation Catalyst and can be converted to tier set pieces.“ Literally the quote.

Sandworm gear is used in the Catalyst. On PTR, those with 6/6 Cypher system were getting 252 tier pieces from the 246 Relic gear.

Dude.

You cannot upgrade sandworn 246 gear into 252 gear.

Have you tried?

If you are 6/6 you should be able too, if not then it needs to be fixed since that was literally in the patch notes.

Why would it work that way? Sounds like a bug.

Need a fully upgraded cypher system which at this point almost everyone has, so yes, yes you can.

Literally in the patch notes like I mentioned

Dude. Stop spamming replies to me.

Think for a second. Think. Think.

Sandworn gear is Sandworn gear. Cypher gear is Cypher gear. Those are two different types of gear. They are not the same.

Sandworn gear can be converted into Tier.

Why would you assume that Sandworn Gear would suddenly become Cypher gear with tier bonuses when it is converted into Tier? Nothing about that sounds natural and correct, and someone posting in this thread has already suggested that their 246 gear stayed 246.

So in other words, you have no idea what you’re talking about and you’re just shoving your know-it-all attitude into things.

Thank you.

It was literally like that on PTR.

Just stop.
