Depending on SoD cadence and where a >25 HC pvp mode would fit they could roll it out as part of the DF wrap up ahead of the expansion prepatch. They don’t seem to need some big beakpoint to release qol nowdays and just push them when they’re ready
Because gold and items don’t get sent to bank alts automatically.
Literally what Glinka just said.
An heir system would, from what has been suggested, entail some level of automation in the way it functions.
The current bank alt system is vulnerable to griefing in capital cities, and if your bank alt dies, it dies.
I wouldn’t mind Blizzard implementing an item based form of insurance, however.
Large variable cost based on item rarity and any BoE item can be “insured”against specific character loss. Items go to a special vendor which can store a limited number of items, future characters on that server can go to the vendor to purchase these items.
Items insured can never leave the server (via character transfer), but once reclaimed from the insurer must have their insurance renewed to maintain that quality, remaining tagged and labelled as “Insured” but greyed out to indicate the item will not transfer with any toon.
Could be interesting, and pushes pricing potentially down by allowing old drops of important items to return for either resale or reuse. Demand reduction plus a gold sink… economists?
Of course, it’s hardcore after all. You guys are asking to remove any possible risk. Hardcore is all about the risk of losing it all. You may as well just play on regular Era.
I think it would be pretty fun to let us loot dead player bodies.
No one is denying the existence of bank alts.
Having materials/gold sent from dead characters in no way is the same thing and it would harm the game’s economy.
Sounds like you should find a non-hardcore server.
I had no idea that the 4 pieces of linen cloth, 23 rough stones an 11 copper ore my toon has can throw things off that much.
I hear guildies who die complain about the large amounts of gold they lost all the time.
When they do I just laugh in bank alt.
“If you’re gonna be dumb, you’ve gotta be tough.”
I prefer: “If youre stupid you have to be resilient.”
“When you’re dead, you’re dead. You won’t know any better. It just hurts those around you. It’s the same when you’re stupid.”
Advice from a soft core player.
Quaint.
Did Glinda give you your daily hug??
I possess wisdom that come can dream about, and that many cannot conceive.
Ya I make a nice amount because people die constantly and buy things. No need to have people muck that up. Although I don’t have bank alts to be honest. I do send stuff to alts they can use and I finally had one die… oh well. “Disposable heroes” was always how I thought of this server anyway.
While the notion of item-based insurance introduces an interesting dynamic, there are concerns about its impact on the in-game economy. The potential for a ‘greyed out’ item, labeled as ‘Insured,’ could affect the rarity and perceived value of certain items. It might lead to an oversupply of previously rare items, potentially diminishing their worth.
Additionally, the concept of an item being tied to a specific vendor for future characters may pose challenges in terms of item management. Players might face limitations on reclaiming items or encounter difficulties in the renewal process, raising questions about the user-friendliness of such a system.
Furthermore, the return of old drops could indeed influence the economy, but it also brings up issues of inflation or devaluation of once-desirable items. The delicate balance between supply and demand needs careful consideration.
While the proposed system aims to address concerns, exploring potential drawbacks and refining the mechanics could be crucial for its successful implementation. What specific safeguards or adjustments would you suggest to mitigate these potential challenges?
Wouldn’t it be better to just ask for a server shared stash like in D3?
All this business with vendors, corpse looting, etc. would require a lot of coding. I’m against having this but it seems like a simpler ask than some convoluted heir system.
If a stash system were introduced, it makes sense that anything the character is wearing is gone if it dies though.
A shared stash system akin to Diablo 3 could have significant implications for the Hardcore experience. On the positive side, it would simplify item sharing and potentially foster a more collaborative community. However, this simplicity may come at the cost of depth and immersion. The risk of losing equipped items upon character death, while adding a layer of consequence, could also lead to unintended consequences such as inflation or devaluation of certain items.
Moreover, introducing such a system might alter the way players approach challenges and risks in the game. The impact on the in-game economy would be noteworthy, with potential shifts in the rarity and value of items. Balancing the convenience of a shared stash with the integrity of the hardcore experience is crucial to ensuring a positive and engaging gameplay environment.
It wouldn’t be all that different than the current alt system. You can save boe items, crafting mats and gold. Nothing soulbound would be shareable.
I don’t think we need additional systems added to what’s available currently (pretty obvious from my previous posts). Just pointing out that this would be easier to implement than an heir system, and I don’t see it impacting your economy any more negatively than the current hoarding/selling/sharing on bank alts.
Players who choose SF at creation would be blocked from this of course.
