Maybe it’s one of those thing where Blizzard back then was too far along with TBC development they did not finish a lot of little things for Vanilla.
A Cleansed Ashbringer could be a sick weapon.

A cleansed Asbringer exists! In retail, in legion expansion, as a ret paladin artifact weapon.

An Uncorrupted Ashbringer exists in the Vanilla files, meaning they were thinking about it. TBC development was quick and the Naxx phase of Vanilla was short lived.
Now that Vanilla will be in stasis for many years, it would be a fun thing to look into. Some added content for Vanilla that makes sense, also finishing making that legendary item. Because the item in the Vanilla files is unfinished.

Maybe because you already have access to 2 legendary weapons in the game and your argument is terrible.
Heaven forbid casters are actually allowed to have the final legendary item in the game, I forgot that according to the new huntards everything is a warrior weapon.

Yeah they put a lot of classic stuff out not tbc. It’s why so many of us were interested in seeing classic+ as an option.

Classic+ would be pretty ideal as there’s a ton of stuff that hasnt been finished when Blizz moved on to TBC and WOTLK, like Hyjal. It’s a whole completed zone, just empty (no NPCs, no enemies, no quests, no herbs/mining nodes…just empty space nothing) due to time constraints.
Would be nice to see small additions like these being finished and made into working zones, but we’ll all have to see.

Because warriors need another legendary. They definitely didn’t get enough spotlight in Classic.
Unfortunately Blizzard went the rout of level expansion with TBC and Wrath for reasons of a gear reset, but original ideas were for the ashbringer to be something you could obtain in some format, at least that’s how the story goes.
As for further development of the Vanilla story, I think we are just out of luck, although an alternative timeline would be a super awesome thing, but many many class balance and design changes would be needed for many to take it seriously.
Reasons being that the warrior PvE dominance is a little dumb, and DW should not be the default for optimal tanking play, in addition to a long list of other painfully obvious things that just need to be remedied.
Any way, MAYBE there is a quest for the ashbringer but so far it has never been discovered in Vanilla and thus far no new quests have been detected, but Blizzard alleged that there were quests in Vanilla that literally no one ever found, so perhaps there is something and 7.5 million players in the original game and 5 or 6 million in this version have yet to find them.

Ashbringer in classic was supposed to come from Fishing. But blizzard never implemented it. That’s why it exists in classic files.

After quitting Classic, I find that the more I read these forums the more I believe Classic Andys are mindless automatons incapable of progressive thinking.
Or maybe your ideas are just a half-baked terrible joke that no one will take seriously.

If Classic+ were to ever be a thing this would be a neat idea, but in this timeline obviously it’s not something we’re ever going to get.
No it wasn’t. There was absolutely zero official information about Ashbringer in vanilla, everything was 100% player speculation.

There was suppose to a questline back in the day that blizzard did begin work on as there are several clearly early stage quests without text or objectives but the titles pretty much confirmed they were connected to optaining the weapon ( Archmage Timolain’s Remains) being the name of one of em And presumebly the final quest in the chain ( The Legacy of the Ashbringer) where you in some way would of retrieved the weappon
