I’ve had some crazy good luck with rare mounts in my time. I got Midnight on my first ever time in new kara. I got the egg for the flayedwing from the first mob I killed when I set out to farm it. But I think I’ve had the craziest best luck just now.
I decided to go for the mounts that come from the mogu assault in vale of eternal blossoms. I’d killed the rare spawns, so it was time to farm for the lasso. Third kill. Well hell yeah! That was easy. I then looked into how to use it. Found where to fly, got a good macro, went to the bathroom, started a long youtube video, and I was ready to wait. 30 seconds later the ivory serpent spawned and I got it. Nice!

Thank you, friend. It did occur to me after I posted that that this probably sounds like just boasting. But I’m just excited and wanted to share. So it’s more like reveling 
I personally love hearing about other player’s successes. We’re all part of a community and its refreshing to hear something nice and good.

The ivory serpent is very common, this is a weird brag thread but alright
Speaking of luck. Years ago I got the white hawkstrider and raven lord mounts one after another. That’s prolly been the best I’ve done when it comes to being on a roll.
Oh, and I had crazy luck doing the Brewfest boss. Both mounts dropped from the same loot keg thingy.
And after those things happening I think I used all my WoW luck up.

My story of crazy but somewhat unnecessary luck happened way back in Wrath. I decided to farm Argent Dawn rep and did a solo clear of Stratholme. The Baron’s mount dropped. Still needing needing rep I did a 2nd run… the mount dropped again. I still keep the extra one it in my bank as a souvenir.

I have a couple funny (to me) stories about mount drops. Both happened after I already had the mounts, so they’re not as impressive as they could have been:
When Cataclysm was released and Stratholme had Baron Rivendare changed with Lord Aurius Rivendare, I joked to my guild “I’m going to check to see if Rivendare’s Charger still drops” and went to the instance on my Death Knight. Of course it dropped and I linked it in chat and said “Yup, still drops.” I think more than a few guildmates were slightly annoyed, heh.
Then another time a guildmate was running Magister’s Terrace and got the White Hawkstrider. I joked “Hey, it’s free White Hawkstrider day!” and ran the instance on my Priest. It dropped and I linked it and said “Yup, free White Hawkstrider day!” I think less people were annoyed that time (because that mount seems to be less rare) and enjoyed the humor in that.
