I really appreciate blizzard trying to do something unique through the Dracthyr but they just flat out don’t look better than Argonians in Elder Scrolls or the Dragonborn from Baldur’s gate 3, Draken from Wildstar and the Au Ra(look great in dragon theme armor) from FFXIV.
How did blizzard collectively make the worst reptile race is definitely a wild feat.
I think what made the race so terrible is the fact they aren’t rigged to wear armor and the community gave an uproar about their lanky jar jar jinks physique while the lead designer of them excuse was " well they’re casters"
Another crazy thing is all those other races ironically have lizard boobs but hey they still 1000% look better, not that i think lizard bitties would fix the Dracthyr at all.
The Au Ra from FF are just humans with horns, I don’t think they even count as a reptilian race in anything but name. That’s my biggest complaint about FF, all the races are humans and it’s really boring.
At least Dracthyr are something different. But yeah it’s bs they can’t wear gear. I don’t really see how it’s much less possible to fit gear on a Dracthyr than, say, a Tauren.
Really? Just sticking lizard stuff on humans and have the skin be totally fine, and not ACTUALLY making them look like a lizard, not even having alligator elbows, is the Best looking lizard race now?
If that’s the case, then Mark Web’s The Amazing Spiderman’s The Lizard is a better rendition then The Lizard in the Spiderman comics. I mean, who needs a snout anyways? It’s not like Lizards have them. /s
Myself along with so many others were looking forward to the ‘Drakonid’ race in WoW. I really liked their models and their lore from back in Wotlk (Those who hang around with Dragons a lot would become a Drakonid, with X flight powers & ascended lifespan) – So I was super keen that we’d be able to finally play them when there were rumours of us being able to play a dragon …
Dracthyr however were rather disappointing in comparison.
Here’s hoping there’s a lore opportunity that opens up and the Drakonid become a playable race @ the same time the Dracthyr have their race open up to more classes.
Heck, even if Drakonid get a visage too (being dragons & all) and had smaller models based on something the Primal Incarnates or other enemy had done to make it flow into the game better would be neat.
Pretty sure players wanted playable dragons. The fact that this entire post is regarding dracthyr as lizards (like the rest of us always have!) is already argument enough about Blizzard’s designs.
Well for one they can’t wear armor, which is just blizzard being lazy and not wanting to fit armor onto the model
Second they’re very round and soft for being a dragon. All the other dragons in this game are sharp, jagged and pointed in their design. They look like they’d definitely impale you if you tried to fight them. But the Dracthyr look soft, their silhouette is very rounded
Then there’s the design itself. They’re so scrawny and look like a lizard, not a dragon. Meanwhile we see roidraged buffed up draknoids in the dragon isles and it’s just like “…. Why couldn’t we have something like that??”
Blizzard barely listened to any feedback on them, and when they did it was minor. The body options to make them “bulky” don’t even do that, they just bring them up from looking emaciated
I’m mostly saying this because at least they look absolutely amazing in draconic and spikey armor… the least blizzard could do is make their raid sets be tailor made for their bodies like THE CONCEPT ART
INSTEAD they only get shoulders and belts… it makes me feel like that’s why their 10.2 raid set looks terrible because blizzard knows no one will see it so they don’t care.
