Crashing, freezing, and stuttering after 8.3 [Intel GPUs]

I’ve heard multiple people have had their property damaged due-in-part to blizzards negligence and “malicious,” hardware. Gross negligence in specific to their software causing fatal system errors as of February 4th 2020 is not covered in their EULA. If this issue increases to a considerable amount besides the measure of unsubscribing from the game; the recent transgressions of blizzard (e.g. reforged) could result in class action. Been hearing rumblings stay tuned all!

Today was the last straw.

I was patient, had confidence in Blizz to make it right and fix their game. I’ve been a long time customer to Blizzard (been playing their products for well over a decade) and thought if I would be patient enough, they will make their game playable.

It’s been weeks now with no sort of fix or recognition that they have a solution. Me and my wife have been playing Classic for some time now and decided to try out 8.3 for a change in pace.

After reaching out to Blizzard support they fail to even acknowledge that there was even a problem for Mac users. That’s when I decided it was time to cut Blizzard completely, me and my wife both refunded Shadowlands and unsubbed.

With the quality control on this patch - it is HIGHLY unlikely Shadowlands will be good let alone have a smooth launch for Mac users.

I highly suggest you guys do the same before its too late.

I think technically it would be more of a reckless negligence, because they knew of the issue and still disregarded it. But yes!!!

Unsubscribed. I recommend you all do the same and talk with your $ than in the forum. I’ll be back once fixed.

Oh my goodness gracious, really? How did that happen? I mean, I didn’t even know it was possible for a game to actually outright break a computer! :astonished:

I mean, I can understand a virus or malware freezing the computer’s software. But hardware? How does that even happen?

Now I’m even more scared to try to log onto WoW. :no_mouth:

I’m down for a class action lawsuit if nothing in their eula covers damage to hardware

I’m playing with Bootcamp and running wow from external ssd and it goes perfectly without crashing.

You guys should try it, i guess with hdd external drive works too

Can’t do that if your MacBook doesn’t have that much memory

You also aren’t playing on a Mac technically if you do that

Ya thats the problem, my macbook is 124gb memory and had to asign the minimum memory requiered (like 40gb) and thats because im running wow from ssd external drive. But at least i can play

the issue at hand though is playing or not being able to on the Mac OS not if you aren’t able to play period. I could take out a loan and buy a few thousand dollar gaming pc with probably no problem.

Am I willing to though? No, because I work on Microsoft os’s all day and would rather not deal with it. With all the information that has been laid out in front of us this,

A.) all was known prior to release
B.) was not fixed by the launch of the patch
C.) still has not been fixed
D.) clearly not a priority given everything that has been stated by blue posts and given the state of the W III Reforged release
E.) wasted everyone’s money who was an active sub/ is an active sub and only plays on a Mac.

Given all of this information it clearly looks like blizzard just doesn’t give a crap about this and the longer this goes, the worse off people will be making it completely unfair for those who have had game time and who honestly tried playing the game

I myself am physically disabled with nerve damage in my leg and various other issues, I can clearly still play other games, and I do. HOWEVER I loved this game and I spent literal days of game time enjoying it and would love to play it, but I am not going to obsess my entire existence around it. Either blizzard will fix it in a few weeks and I resub, or move on and not play again. I’d rather do the former but if the later happens I don’t care

Subscribe since 2004 here. Having the same issue as everyone else and this is the first time since I’ve been playing this game that I can’t do it in my Mac. Is there a solution in the works?

P.S.: I don’t consider installing Windows in my Mac a solution for a number of different reasons.

I had to bootcamp my Mac. Now it works fine, but I’m still annoyed at blizzard for this. I had to spend 3 hours getting all my addons set back up. My friend was kind enough to save my weak auras, but that took play time away from him when he would’ve rather been doing other things.

It’s also very annoying that the mail issue was at high priority than this. I understand that it was effecting a lot of people, and that Mac gamers are a minority, but this is kind of absurd. The game worked before the patch just fine, and not it doesn’t work. A fellow officer in my guild is basically being carried through every single mythic plus dungeon she wants to do. On raid night she only got off one ice lance before her computer crashed for the rest of the night. She just decides to un-sub from the game until this issue is fixed. I know that raging at the void doesn’t do anything, but I just want you guys to know that the community my guild built up of being kind and helpful to all players to join us is being hurt because one of our most active officers isn’t there.

Mac OS catalina 10.15.3
2017 iMac
constant freezing and crashing id give error codes but they were wipe with the reinstall

I haven’t dared to play since the day after patch launch when I noticed this was an issue. I’m essentially waiting to hear from Blizz that the problem is fixed before I open the game. I’m shocked to see that there’s still no fix, but I’m more shocked to hear that Blizzard isn’t offering some sort of refund for the people affected. The loss of money from this is quite a large concern.

I, of course, am grateful that Blizz is working to fix this and I’m hoping that this issue is taken care of quickly.

We’re going on nearly four weeks now, Blizzard working on it is a bit of a stretch at this point.

Didn’t realize some folks Macs are getting permanently damaged from this, that freaks me out. There is no way I will be playing WoW again until it’s 100% confirmed to be fixed.

With one left on game time and the game removed, I just wanted to say something. Those who say you will be back when fixed are crazy. This company has shown that they just don’t care about anything any more. A pay to win game for phones, Warcraft 3 is a mess, and then 8.3 issues they knew about before hand. They don’t clearly don’t care about the gamers. To say you will come back no matter how long it takes allows them to get away with this kind of stuff. It is not worth the issues or the money. heck, we pay for this and they suspend players for complaining. I just don’t see a point anymore. It is all for nothing. It is just yelling into a void. Iowa is doing and better job than Blizzard. For seven years I left then came back in Nov of 19 just to have this happen. They have even said, they will not refund or doing anything to make up for the issues because we were able to log in and play. Play, to them means walk around in the world, not matter how well or long. I have emails from them to prove that they even said that. They don’t care. The CS team will tell you they care, but do not buy it. Be smart move on people. Its four weeks and still you each sit here hoping. Join those of us who are officially done. I know, all pointless, but if I can save on person the time it took to write all this was worth it. Good bye blizzard, and the rest of you. I wish you all the best.

I’m basically having an issue anytime there are too many things going on.

Pretty frustrating. Will probably not renew my subscription unless this is promptly fixed. There’s lots of options out there for MMORPG and WoW definitely has the best community. Right now they don’t have a functional game though… Sad…

Class action law-suit for false advertising that it’s Mac compatible? Anyone willing to start up a Go-Fund me to pay for a lawyers retainer?

Guess what?! Game crashed and forced a restart of my iMac, something neither new nor different…! Oh yeah, another error report to add to the pile! Blizzard are you even looking at these any more, or just hoping we will go away so you can focus on glitchy AH and mail…
