Crashing, freezing, and stuttering after 8.3 [Intel GPUs]

My guess at the earliest is Tuesday. Not one of them will be working tomorrow. So Tuesday or bust.

Okay. We’ll give them until Tuesday, if it’s not fixed by then then we should all rally and demand a full refund for the BFA expansion + sub time.

why wait until Tuesday? If they can fix it now, why wait to patch it Tuesday? If the game is unplayable on a MAC, we should get gametime or our money back today.

please fix this. I can’t do dungeons. I can’t do raids. I can’t do horrific visions. Getting spikes while doing dailies. Haven’t experienced 8.3 at all =(

Reporting again. I reformatted my HD, downloaded all new updates. Still getting SYSTEM-FREEZING problems and needing to hard-restart my computer, in ALL CONTENT. Refunds are deserved for every day that we spend unable to play new content.

Here the same problem,
Mac Book Pro 2018
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5
8 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB

Crashes in dungeons, quests, raids when there are a lot of spells

So I was just told from a submitted ticket that we can’t get the items back that we lost in visions and that we won’t be getting the money back for our gametime. So, we’re supposed to be happy that we can’t play a game we paid for and not complain. They aren’t going to fix it anytime soon and they are acting as if we should just be happy with their non-answers and promises that it will be fixed in the future.

Uh you should screenshot that and post it somewhere in the public view ASAP

I have contacted Jim Sterling and he may be doing a video on 8.3 with a segment dedicated to the issue being mirrored by a plethora of Mac users in this thread. This is really not on, and we won’t take it as players who weren’t notified that we would possibly be excluded from a third of the expansion before we purchased the product. We will not rest until they address this, if they don’t, they’ll hear us through other means.

If I can get on the game and not have my computer crash and restart, I will. I know I am not the only one that has received the same information from a submitted ticket. Ppl on the Mac forums have been saying that they heard the same about not getting any lost items back and that playtime will not be refunded. Right now, I log in dead, freeze for 10 secs and then my computer restarts. Guess it’s time to go play FIFA

The most competitive week of this patch and I’m supposed to sit by and not be bothered by the fact that I cannot join my guildies in leveling my neck, my cape, participate in visions(can only solo, which results in a disconnect and lost of vision). The fact is, I will not be prepared come raid release, will fall behind and possibly lose my position due to Blizzard rushing a deadline for deadline sake, not following through, and treating us wrongfully for their mistakes after 15 years.

Look, if you’re going to mess up, at least make it right and quit telling us that there’s nothing to be done. A lot of people are waiting…

Been having the same issues as you all, 2019 13” MacBook Pro, however I have a workaround that hopefully helps everyone while we wait for the fix to be patched in. It’s a bit of a headache and takes a couple hours, BUT:

  1. google windows 10 ISO, download from Microsoft’s site
  2. run boot camp installer in MacOS
  3. relegate 100gb partition to windows
  4. install, you can find more detailed instructions on YouTube, and boot in windows
  5. download WoW client etc (requires around 67-70gb I think don’t quote on exact, hence just partition 100gb to be safe on earlier step)
  6. back on your MacOS, do “show in finder” for WoW, and copy to a flash drive the folders “Cache”, “WTF”, and “Interface”
  7. go back to windows boot and open file location for retail WoW there and paste files from step 6

Boom. Cloned WoW copy with all your addons settings etc running in windows on your MacBook Pro, and as far as I can tell so far fingers crossed no crashes no stutters etc…even better FPS on higher graphics settings! Blizz really does optimize more for windows but that’s understandable

Hopefully this helps other determined players who just want to find any way to play the new patch. It’s pretty good! The horrific visions are solid!

I thought of doing this when the problem originally occurred on patch day, but I didn’t want to invest all that time/effort if it didn’t work. Keep us posted if any crashes do end up happening again for you, please. And thanks for doing all that work to find out!!

Dear Blizzard,

You are currently silent, but your silence is deafening. I would like to share what the experience of the average user in this thread has been over the last 6 days.

We logged in on Tuesday expecting to enjoy Patch 8.3, Visions of N’zoth. We were wrecking stuff in the Halls of Originination until we stumbled upon parts 6 and 7 of the scenario where the puzzle with the lights was. As soon as we tried to look at the lights the whole computer would freeze and require a force reboot. We relogged in and the same thing happened. We waited 30 minutes until we were kicked from the scenario and tried it again until the same exact thing happened.

What did we have to do? We did that part of the scenario while keeping our screen on the ground, that was the only way to play the game without having it crash. Every 10-15 minutes after that we would have the game freeze/stutter for 10 seconds at a time, but we kept going because we wanted to enjoy the game. Crashes occurred everytime we were attacked by more than 2 people of the opposite faction. But that’s okay, we turned off warmode because that was the only way to make it better.

Rare mobs on the map? We had to avoid them because when there was 5+ people attacking the same thing there was almost a definite chance we would mass stutter of crash the whole computer. Puzzle Quests in Uldum? Had to avoid those too, all that new content was something we couldn’t touch because it was literally untouchable.

But it didn’t end there, what are some other components of the game we could possibly do in this time?

Arenas? Stuttering and 10 second freezes
Battlegrounds? Crash the game
Dungeons? Crash the game
Raids? Crash the game
Lesser Visions? Crashed in one of them

Horrific Visions? Terrified of going into one for fear of being permanently set back by losing it to a crash.

How does this set us back? Some of us cannot do assaults/visions/the beginning quest, and we will forever be behind on ranking our cloaks. All of us are unable to complete the dungeon that we planned on doing in order to prepare ourselves for the new mythic+ season, no double AP for us, no keystone for us next week, no nothing. We have been left permanently behind because of someone’s incompetence and it’s likely not someone’s specific’s fault, but rather the collective as a whole.

World of Warcraft, a game that prides itself on its social dynamic and group adventures quite simply does not work in a group adventure for everyone in this thread and the thousands more that do not check the forums and are struggling with this.

Imagine our rollercoaster of emotions when on Thursday a staff member announced that a resolution was found. Great news! Except the 3 hour maintenance on Friday did not even try to implement a fix to our problem. What kind of sick joke is that? No one is telling us when a fix is being planned. No timeline is ever established. We literally had to do QA for you guys and gather information for you guys so that you could fix a problem you created. Every blue post after that used an unnecessary amount of vague terms regarding when the whole thing.

And at this point I’m just getting tired of spelling out everything for you. Get your act together.

We don’t deserve this, we deserve to be treated better.

Although the rest or w/e on Thursday finally let me make progress, I am still having major freezes and occasional forced restarts. Note that freezing for a minute mid vision is a disaster … Anyway, this error report from today’s assault in Uldum (just trying to kill stuff, no boss fight):

I haven’t done this but am about too. Has anyone tried completely uninstalling their addon program (such as twitch) and WoW? If so, any changes?

Also having this exact same issue. Was doing it off and on during the week, but I can only play for about 10 seconds before my new 2019 MacBook Pro that I just got in August completely shuts down. Rainbow circle of death and then complete shutdown. I’ve sent a report in to Blizzard. Guess we should all cancel our subscriptions?

Let us know if this works

Just tried to do a heroic stromgarde… my computer literally exploded, wow went black and my computer just turnt off and restarted. This is the error details
It’s just crazy how we aren’t going to get any compensation for this. This is a game we paid for right? We didn’t pay for a broken game, imagine paying for a messed up phone or computer, and the company not compensating for it , messed up right? Of course its a game, everything has issues… but this issue literally is stopping people from playing, and the issue was happening since the patch was on public test realm… No one from the team said anything about it or did anything about it? At this point I’m convinced if I don’t have a windows computer I’m not going to be able to play. Atleast compensate for all of our sub time being wasted and us losing out on visions dailies etc… ESPECIALLY after a 3 hour shutdown and literally nothing was fixed.
