Crashing, freezing, and stuttering after 8.3 [Intel GPUs]

You too, peace.

can u get money back for shadowlands ??

ok…I’ve just gotten home, but am a bit unhappy that this wasnt addressed with this maintenance. Also while I’m glad you have the space on your macbook, and the time to invest on using boot camp to setup windows on your machine…not all of use do. This is also NOT a fix for the MacOS users, nor is it a valid work around. The MacOS client issues are the problem. Saying ‘well just run on windows’ just validates Activision/Blizzards disregard for the Mac user base.
Truthfully I’d rather hear that they are going to stop supporting/providing a MacOS client, then this BS about setting up dual boot / Win10 to play the game.

im playing ffxiv at least there game is progressing and getting better not worse

I have a TB, so it’s hard for me to say when it comes to people with limited drive space. But essentially you’ll need enough hard drive space for the partition to be able to install both Windows and WoW. The original poster suggested 100 GB, so I just went with that.

Me too … sub expires in a week - I am outta here. I wanted the Classic experience but this is just too much like it used to be LOL…

Yes. And I will be. Everything loads dramatically faster. No more 30-90 second loading screens, you can set display setting to high/ultra, whereas for me on my Mac OS everything was set to low. I played WoW on a Mac OS for over a decade, but no longer. I’m still keeping my iMac though! I’ll never buy a PC or Windows!!

Great, thanks for this. At least there’ll be a long-term benefit rather than all the work for a (hopefully) short-term work-around. Now I just need to find an extra 40GB somewhere…

I have the same problem of the animation and fps stuttering every 1-2 seconds and I cannot play the game AT ALL. I’ve had this problem since Saturday! This is nuts. Even people with way better and newer Macs than me are having the same problems… or worse! Not happy Blizz. Not. Happy.

For MacBooks with 120GB on theirs SSD, it’s not a option… We can’t do that, there isn’t enough space. And with an external hard drive, WoW doesn’t runs the same.

Mac OS Version:
Catalina 10.15.2

System model:
Model: MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2019, Four Thunderbolt 3 ports)
Processor: 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7
Memory: 16 GB 2133 MHz LPDDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 1536 MB

Symptom:

  • Game randomly freezes for about 3 seconds on regular intervals… sometimes every 5-10 seconds. Seems to happen regardless of area inside the game.
  • In Windowed mode, Window re-sizes itself on first freeze and any time after I re-size it manually.
  • I have also had the entire system crash once or twice.
  • With my eGPU (Radeon RX 580), the game runs perfectly fine from my experience so far, so this issue seems to be limited to when I’m using Intel graphics (when I’m away from home etc.)

UPDATE: I Just had my entire system crash after making this post, while inside a raid doing the world boss in Vale. Here is the log:

This is Day 8 where I am unable to complete the Magni quest line making 8.2 unplayable. Same issue as before my MacBook Pro will crash at stage 6 or 7 of retaking the forge. Also, any group content including non instanced world groups ie Bee events in stormsong cause my laptop to crash completely.

Here again is my tech specs

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13 inch Early 2015)
2.9 GHz Intel Core i5
8gb 1867 MHz DDR3
Intel Iris Graphics 6100 1536 MB

Sorry it’s not an option for you!

MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Four Thunderbolt 3 Ports)

Every few seconds or minutes, my game will become frozen, I won’t be able to switch windows until the freeze is over, and then it will happen over and over again. Been stuck in Uldum for two nights not being able to move without crashing my game. I’m getting consistent things crashing my entire compute too, like the Kael’thas fight in Tempest Keep. Even with graphics all the way down, no addons, and no other windows open, WoW will become unresponsive and even crash my entire computer to reboot half the time.

Frustrated and sad :frowning:

Every one that replied this post freezes my mac more

Yup this is killing me too, I can’t even run old content for mounts without freezing and crashing, and I just upgraded to BfA with the Shadowlands preorder but so far haven’t even tried any new content because I know whats gonna happen. Hopefully they fix this soon…

THIS WILL HELP we have 700 people here I think we can start tweeting this on @BlizzardCS (https://twitter.com/BlizzardCS)

We can explain there about how hundreds of us were cheated of money and opportunity and maybe suggest other MMORPGs like Guild Wars or Final Fantasy there…

Key think to note is that they are still not warning Mac users about the trouble. Which they knew on launch week itself… guys who purchased in last couple of days can easily sue in small claims court that blizz willfully hid the fact. at least get your 15 dollars back!

SOLVED
