I mean, I do agree with your points here, I just also don’t think any of them address the argument I was making.
This isn’t related to my own argument, but I’m not sure how else to read this other than a personal insinuation:
It reads pretty unfairly, imo.
I think people are allowed to have emotional responses to an antagonist designed to make people dislike them. Arguing from the perspective of in-universe events and happenings, Sylvanas does literally deserve to go to wow’s superhell. She’s committed multiple genocides. It’s not even a question. The bad writing only compounds the issue because Blizzard tries exceptionally hard to put her on a pedestal and “justify” it somehow, like they’ve done time and again - and I didn’t like those characters either.
I’m in no way going to argue that the community is not extremely unfair towards female characters, and it’s fair to point that out and criticize the writers for writing women terribly. You shouldn’t dismiss someone venting about a character they don’t like as creepy and tell them to just hate the writers instead, and that’s really how I’m reading this argument. The thread’s purpose is literally to be cranky about the new expansion.

I mean, sure? Why not? Who cares the fact the Val’kyr were a very finite resource for her and that’s been a MAJOR plot point since Cataclysm, to say nothing of the reasoning behind risking outright war with the Alliance during the Legion invasion of Azeroth.
Obviously she can just make more when she needs to. Obviously.

She’ll never get Brynja, super important hero of the horde, back. Must be tough playing Horde when the unstoppable night warrior is on the other side!

Guys, hold onto your butts cos I’m about to blow your minds:
The writing is bad.

But what if bad writing is just a state of mind?

I remember all those debates about how justified or unjustified Sylvanas and Genn’s actions were in Stormheim. Whether Genn knew at the time he attacked that Sylvanas was enslaving those Val’kyr, or whether he just lucked out when his actions happened to stop her from obtaining that super rare and powerful resource.
One thing we all agreed on is that Sylvanas would be all but unstoppable if she had succeeded and could just make as many Val’kyr as she wanted, but wow Azeroth sure dodged a bullet there! Good thing that could never happen!

That is why I worded it this way:
This game’s writing is a state of butt.

And yet I am laughed at for daring to enjoy the output of the Black Library. Truly, this is a unjust world.
I wouldn’t be as upset about the ‘Sylvanas can make as much Val’kyr as she wants’ if they even bothered to establish it at any point; assuming Hight wasn’t just talking out of his [REDACTED].
I’d still be annoyed, about as much as I was about the cinematic trailer, but at least if it were shown at some point that she gained this ability I could at least call it character development…technically.

Well she has a new superpower every time she’s in a cinematic, which feels like every couple months anymore. Why not infinite val’kyr?

She makes them with Nathanos ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The hell of it is she doesn’t have to make new Val’kyr. If she’s truly been in league with this Jailer since she killed herself at the end of Wrath, then all the Val’kyr who took her place after that event/when Godfrey shot her are all literally just waiting to be whistled back into service once she breaks the walls of life and death.

I think given Dardillien’s responses to me, all is well, Karithien. Bringing his behavior up was admittedly fueled by some presumptions about his character, and for that I apologize. I can be cranky too sometimes. Thank you Enekie seeing the best of intentions in my words.

Fair, I totally understand why you’d be vigilant against that sort of criticism, given the history of the community. Definitely wasn’t trying to call you a bad person or anything of the sort, so I hope I didn’t come across that way.

I will say I didn’t take your response to me personally. I think you bring up a valid point where Blizzard writes female characters horribly, they do. And I do come across as frothing at the mouth when it comes to Sylvanas getting punishment, but that is only because I’m sick of Blizzard writing evil characters who get redemption.
I don’t have anything against female characters, I think Tyrande is poorly written and deserves retribution for what happened to her people, and Jaina gets crap unnecessarily considering all she’s been through with the Horde.
I just hate the recent trend by Blizzard of writing evil characters who get redemption, regardless of being male or female. We got the BS Grom “Draenor is free” redemption after he committed genocide against the Draenei, then we got Illidan’s awful redemption after all the evil crap he did. I just can’t deal with it again with Sylvanas, how many genocidal, evil pieces of crap do we have to give redemption to at this point? Why can’t we just bring them to justice and give them the punishment they deserve? That’s my whole thing, I just want something different from Blizzard’s writing.

Honestly, the latest issuance of Mak gora between Saurfang and Sylvanas was a missed opportunity. You heard me.
If the writers and devs had really been on their game promoting Sylvanas as a 256k 3D Chess master that has manipulated events since Wrath of the Lich King(or further, I’m sure as it will be later revealed/retconned) – Then they would have made Sylvanas win.
Saurfang steps out onto the field. Sylvanas comes out with Tink tink. Sylvanas has the obvious upperhand and instead of stepping back to gloat when she has a knife at his back and is leaning in, just kills him outright.
Saurfang’s body falls lifelessly to the ground, his axe and Shalamayne falling from his grip and making a small dusty cloud.
Sylvanas looks up slowly to the remnant of the ‘traitor’ army and slowly says, “what now? Do you leave? That would seem to be the honorable thing to do. Do you continue after I have come out and upheld my end of this honorable bargain? Do you stay? Do you leave? Know this!”
Sylvanas points a dagger at the line of enemies in front of her.
“If you stay, I’ll be issuing my own Mak Gora’s. Let’s start with you, Child of the Lion.”
Edited to add:
Sylvanas turns slightly and leans down to pick up Anduin’s family blades, separating them and holding them in an at ready stance.

Can this be followed by Velen turning her into a little puff of ashes.
Warchief Velen would be great.
