Cranky Quarantine Thread

Wait…I’m out of the loop here. Sylvanas is now responsible for the Wrathgate?

Meaning she orchestrated the take over of the Undercity, with her pet Dreadlord being what? A patsy to take the fall, since the next time we see him he’s been tortured beyond reason by the Legion?

Lemme get you caught up: the story is bad.

Careful, you’ll go cross eyed.

Matt Ward, is that you?

No seriously, Sylvanas is Kaldor Draigo. And if you don’t know who that is…well…be careful what names you conjure/google search by.

I looked him up. I’m not disappointed.

Is he that large of a meme in Warhammer?

Is it possible Sylvanas is high off plague? Are we high off plague?

He well and truly is. TTS (If the Emperor Had A Text To Speech Device, source of the clips in the video) doesn’t really parody anything about him beyond his obvious insanity. Everything else (and he eats a sun at one point in TTS) is well and truly in character.

The point of the joke is he was a lovechild of one of the setting’s lead writers at Games Workshop, and as a result could do no wrong and often operated at a level beyond even the Chaos Gods. Just absolute lunacy and just reminds me of what the WarCraft guys are doing with Sylvanas.

Or, to put in the words of Magnus from their last Podcast (Where they review the first Warhammer 40k novel “Inquisitor” - highly recommend by the by): They’re just THAT GOOD!

Why would you compare such an amazing man to someone as horrid as Syvlanas D:

He seems like a man truly worth fighting for! I mean, have you seen that beard?!

Btw, Warhammer seems amazing. May have to tinker…

I was comparing the writing styles to both characters more than the characters themselves. In that they can “do no wrong” and tend to operate on ridiculous power levels even by the own ridiculous power levels of the setting.

If The Emperor Had A Text to Speech Device is actually not a terrible place to start. Well, it’s terrible if you want the reality behind the setting, but they cover a lot of topics and it’s legitimately entertaining to watch. Great for laughs.

Leutin09 is a good channel to get in-depth looks at various aspects of the lore.

Aw yee. Time for a lore binge.

I would be perfectly fine if Sylvanas became a pants on head meme like the Warhammer dude. Edgelord 32D Chess Tactician is not believable vs. “I was never a Night Elf” wouldn’t be a contest.

Do not eat anything while listening to the Daemonculaba video.

She’s getting there. All she needed to say in the newest cinematic while chaining up Bolvar was “Have you ever tried a Tangerine? WOULD YOU LIKE TO?!” Throws giant block of ice

War of Memecraft please.

Personally I wish the plots for everything would stop being so grand of all things really. As I again personally, don’t believe that we need to go on some epic adventure every single expansion to get a really good gaming experience.

Considering how high the stakes have gotten they’ll have to tone it down eventually; that or just…reset everything like Final Fantasy.

I don’t know why this made me think of Sylvanas wearing an infinity gauntlet and just snapping her fingers to reset everything, but it did.

And here I am now with this weird thought in my head.

obviously the books were written from the point of view of the titans

It’s starting to feel like this is becoming more and more likely with each expansion. The current team seems like they just want to splinter off and do their own lore at this point.

I don’t even know what is canon regarding the Wrathgate now. One of the devs did indeed say she did it in an off the cuff comment with no further details. I dunno if it was just a mistake, because without any more information it doesn’t really make sense. She lost her demon, a bunch of apothecaries, got her city raided by the Alliance and may have even gotten herself killed if Jaina hadn’t stopped Varian from attacking her and Thrall for… what? Was she thinking “this plague can definitely one-shot Arthas and if I don’t use it now we have no chance”? “this plague can’t kill Arthas but it’d be funny to kill a bunch of humans and orcs”?

If only Nathanos had been there to say “mmmhmmhmm all according to plan” as the Undercity got sacked

I think the most likely explanation is the dev misremembered the details of that story because they really don’t care about the story at all.

I was thinking about this when they announced Shadowlands. Obviously the 4 zones they announced aren’t everywhere we are going for the entire expansion. Because of this I’m willing to bet we go to the Dragon Isles, probably at the end of the expansion, and we will end up doing something where the timeline gets “reset” in some way because of the Bronze Dragonflight.
