Craftworking Orders:

I am frustrated because there is very limited 'craft working orders and you don’t know which are what professions. I have to use my alts to complete quests for leveling professions and trying to look up what can be crafted by each professions. DF professions are so very complicated IMO. Why don’t the specific items in Crafted Items you can order list the actual ‘profession’ creating this? I really have NO idea what each of my alts can actually create in the ‘Crafting Orders’ tab. I get this may be a great deal of ‘programming’…but this whole DF profession is Quantum physics compared to other expansions?.. JMO. Just My Opinion.

They do.

I get what you’re saying. It would be REALLY nice if you could sort by profession. I have to log into alts to send crafting orders, and it sucks having to figure out which one goes to which profession.

Also, the profession system has a lot of potential, but they did very little testing with it. It had less than a month of testing in beta right before the expac came out. They needed A LOT more work with it. I’m hoping by the end of DF it can be in a good position for future expacs, but it sucks that we have to “beta test” it throughout the entire expansion.

tailoring makes cloth bracers
LW makes mail/leather bracers
BS makes plate bracers
engi makes handfuls of serevite bolts
jewelcrafting makes shimmering clasps
inscription makes core explorer’s compendium

Those are all reasonably cheap ways to get alts work orders

Slightly cheaper options.

Tailoring makes Wildercloth Bolts.
Inscription makes Serene Ink.

That is NOT what I mean. To click on every single 'recipe to see what profession it is. I am coming from a person who is trying to help my ‘forlorn’ alts out that have only a certain number of recipes and! there is a ‘minimal’ amount of recipes that you can even create.

I know it is a great! deal of programming for all this. I COMMEND the ‘trigonometric or quantum mechanics’ level programming that went into ‘professions’. But I didn’t make it past ‘geometry’ kinda. Seriously, it is a heroic idea for DF (edit) professions… but, with Forbidden Reach gear is a bit obsolete? Am I wrong? Recipes sell on Auction house that are difficult to get if you don’t raid… please, I don’t want to keep rambling. Hopefully you get my gist.

All the recipes that I and Xylandia mentioned can be learned from the trainer

I think I’m starting to understand what you are asking for: on the page before the one Hambrick linked, have a column that shows which profession creates the item(s) without having to select it to view the required materials and profession?

But at the same time DF professions follow the same logic of previous expansions for the majority of crafts (BS creates plate, Eng creates parts, etc.) which means even without the identifier you can almost always intuitively associate the finished product to the producing profession. Similarly, most (most, not all, for us nitpickers here!) uncommon and rare crafts require common materials while epic crafts require rare BoP materials. The challenge is learning the DF specific cross-crafting requirements such as Eng for Zapthrottle Soul Inhaler while JC creates the Soul Prisms to make it work. Perhaps I’m wrong, but if you are only trying to figure out crafting orders for your alts it is to accomplish the weekly quest so use the simplest orders that are learned from the trainers at skill 1-15.

Yes I have been doing that. It’s the higher levels that get difficult. I have to clarify, I have always tried to ‘max’ out my professions… I won’t be doing this on my main or alts. It’s like leaving loose ends hanging… but so be it. It’s an adjustment I guess.
