Crafting trade chat auto-reply add-on out of control

Crafter here. I don’t use the trade chat auto-reply add-on because it seems sort of like cheating to me. Not saying it is, but I don’t want to use it. I do post a message every 2-5 minutes advertising my crafting. When I do I invariably get the add-on auto-replies replying to my crafting ad.

This week I’ve actually had two users of the add-on complaining to me that I should change my advertisement so that their add-on doesn’t reply to me. One of them got mad and abusive about it, calling me a noob and such.

I think it’s time to implement a better way to link up crafters with customers so that everyone can go back to arguing politics in trade chat. Maybe this could be as simple as allowing customers to specify quality on public orders, though I’m sure the devs could come up with something way better if they put some time into it.

I too am a crafter who doesn’t want to cheat with the addon.

And I’m missing out on a lot of sales because of it.

they really should do something about addons that automate messages, all of them too, the guild invite spam addons are just as annoying

For the benefit of those of us who let our subscriptions to Trade Chat Drama Monthly expire years ago… what does this addon do?

Detects keywords or phrases and auto-replies instantly to clinch the sale on crafted items. It’s (social) gameplay automation.

So let me get this straight. Blizz refuses to implement minimum quality levels in the public work order system because they wanted players to interact socially through trade. So instead players create an addon to avoid interacting socially through trade???

Sounds about right.

It doesn’t auto-reply. It just makes it so you can reply with a mouse click.

Still is a scummy addon though, but if you can’t beat them then join them until Blizz finally breaks it.

I’ve never seen star wars (which google reverse image search suggests this is from), but I assume this man is also frustrated by gameplay automation which has caused him to age prematurely.

I DO use the addon, as I have multiple crafters of every profession, but I never make anything unless someone in guild needs something. I make zero sales.

I just craft for fun and completionism, and the addon has some good quality of life features unrelated to the one-button reply function.

P.S. Oh and he ages prematurely because he does this too much.

All of which seems to describe this addon.
