I sent a ticket into the GM’s and they suggested I post on the forums for more support.
I created a public crafting order for a “PaAltient Alchemist’s Mixing Rod” with a note " Best quality please", I got it back and it was only 3 gold stars not the single orange like the other orders I had like the “Artisan Alchemist’s Robe” or the “Nerubian Alchemist’s Hat”
So I went to send an in-game message to the person to see if they could re-craft it for me, and it’s reporting “Target is unfriendly”
So my question how can an unfriendly target craft this item in the 1st place if I can’t even send them an in-game mail?
The GM has suggested to try another charater to contact the person which I have and I’m still getting the same error.
How can I get the person who crafted this to correct this issue?
The next question I have is when I try and access the support via in game it pops up a window with 2 arrows spinning around and doesn’t do anything, I’m using the default UI so I don’t think it’s that, this is a fresh install.
Hi Foxen,
You are probably getting the “target is unfriendly” message because the toon who did the crafting order is Horde. Horde and Alliance can do crafting orders for each other but they can’t communicate via whispers or mail. If you still have the toon’s name, you could create a Horde alt and whisper or mail them.
Also, the quality of the item crafted depends on a lot of factors, including the skill level of the crafter and where they have distributed their points, as well as the quality of the materials submitted for the order, so top quality isn’t always guaranteed. That said, anybody can recraft a piece of equipment crafted by any other player, so you could just ask in general / trade chat for someone to recraft the item for you at the quality you need.
The usual message they give you when a GM can not assist, is that you can use the forums to make suggestions for policy or game changes to the Devs. That is usually done on the General Discussion, or topic related Discussion forums.
Sometimes the support website it is linking to just plain glitches out
Public crafting orders are just that, anyone can fulfill them and there is no guaranteeing the result. So there is no issue to be corrected, while they’re sort of jerks for not listening to your request, you put in a crafting order and it was completed and that’s the only requirement.
You need to submit a personal crafting order in order to specify what quality result you want.
So I did purchase the highest quality materials for the item, so it wasn’t that.
I did try my guild however it just expired out after 48 hours and I also asked before it did expire.
When submitting a personal crafting order it asks for a name, so I don’t understand that, if you don’t have the name or know someone then this is kinda useless
The really stupid part that I really can’t figure out is you can craft a green mixing rod, but just not a blue version.
That’s a bit stupid, I can craft the rare alchemist stone, yet I can’t craft a rare mixing rod?
I need that crafted by another person, really it’s forcing you interact with other players, unless you can get a number of toons up to lv 80 with all professions maxed out, then that’s the only way you might be able to do it.
And this right here is the whole point of the new crafting system. The devs wanted users to engage with others on both sides of the equation.
If you’re in a decently populated realm it’s pretty easy to find someone to do a craft for you. You can simply post in the Trade chat what you are looking for. When you send them the personal crafting order you can specify the quality and if the user can’t create that quality, they can’t complete the order and you get your stuffs back.
If you don’t want to engage with other users you can ignore the system basically entirely or use public orders and roll the dice on what you receive.
Edit:
The blue mixing rod is called the Patient Mixing Rod.
Only use public crafting orders when the the quality of the item doesn’t matter, like mounts, pets, etc.
On populated servers it’s really easy to find someone to craft for you at max level. Put in Trade Chat - LF Crafter (link item you want crafted) at max level, max mats and tip provided. And, don’t skimp on the tip. If you offer a skimpy tip some crafters will refuse to craft because they’ve put in a lot of work to acquire recipes and level the profession. Sometimes they have to use Concentration (which is of limited supply) or additional items in order to get max level.
The patient alchemist mixing rod is created by scribes.
If you have inscription, you can make this item yourself, although the recipe is a drop from delves. The recipe is 5 g on my server’s AH.
But before you get all upset, listen. The rank 3 version of this tool gives the exact same amount of skill as the rank 5 ( the single orange).
The difference in multicraft (if you made it multicraft) is only 1.5% lower than if you max ranked it. This difference is not statistically significant unless you make thousands of pots/flasks. I can see you’ve made 292 pots and 102 flasks/phials in two years. You will not notice a difference for these sorts of amounts.
Edit: if you think that in the future you will make thousands of crafts, you can always recraft the item.
To recraft go to the crafting orders person (same one as the one you used to craft it) and look for “recraft” on the top of the list.
Then say in trade “LF recraft Patient alchemists mixing rod” (preferably link the item). A person should whisper you (might take a moment, depending on your server size). Put that person’s name in the “name” field.
