Crafting Progression thru Mythic Dungeons

I would just likely to humbly suggest that professions in Shadowlands not require dungeon runs to level them they way they do now in BFA with hydrocores and/or tidalcores.

I absolutely understand a few recipes and mats for specific dungeon/raid gear only dropping in dungeons or raids, but not to the detriment of a players ability to level their profession up at all. Also, why does follower gear crafting require these items? What does the mission table have to do with dungeons? Why can’t their be missions for followers to get the mats to make their gear?

Anyway, I guess I could farm a bazillion ore and try my luck gaining +10 blacksmithing off of green recipes but after that I am still stuck with dungeon drop based items for the next 20 levels where I can learn a new recipe… which requires god only knows what to make.

I am trying to stay positive and supportive of my favourite game but crafting is a lot of fun for some people… it becomes their entire playstyle, just like some people are all about the pvp or rp, and others, they really just want to raid.

I don’t think one playstyle should have non-optional participation in another playstyle to progress with the exception of leveling up in the first place, because, obviously.

I disagree, I think of the gear is of (for example) m+ 10 quality, mats should come from m+ 10 difficulty content. Same for raids, mythic quality gear should require mythic quality mats.

The primary issue we see today is that questing gear takes mythic dungeon drops to make - not worth the effort it takes to craft.

WoW is dissimilar from FFXIV in this way, crafting can be your class in FF, but in WoW it’s more like an afterthought. No risk to it, you get most of the stuff doing what you already do anyway. It’s meant to be a flyover feature.

Just my opinion but I think it’s understandable.

Somethings you’ve mention does take a bit of time grinding a dungeon to work but they come with a bonus that pays off.

I am completely maxed out on my followers on my DH and during my workweek I can still pump out a huge amount of missions. Storm Silver Spurs + Platinum whetstone.

Something so powerful should require effort to match. I appreciate that they have left it at a Heroic level of dungeon to farm because I believe this is ‘casual enough’ to be viable.

For mythic level gear I haven’t tried this patch but last patch you could have enough mats over 3 sets of Heroic Eternal Palace to craft Mythic gear.

Honestly I see that as a blessing given it was a guaranteed way to get a slotted 440 item.

Blizz is punishing people that like professions because it doesn’t fit their narrow view of endgame.

This is an example of people demanding they be able to participate despite not being able to do group content.

I can’t, so I do not get that reward.

This expac it just means I haven’t dropped massive amounts of time and resources leveling a profession that doesn’t benefit me, so +1 to the new system.

I think you may have misunderstood my post. I do think dungeon/raid level gear should require dungeon/raid dropped mats… I just think said gear should be optional aspects of the crafting profession and not mandatory for skillups.

Why does “effort” automatically mean dungeons? As for mission table items it could be a series of missions with a tricky success rate, as with other crafted goods, mats out in the open world could drop from rares, world bosses, elites or just nodes but at very low rates requiring a great time investment for those willing without hamfisting people into dungeons.

I’m not sure what you mean by this!? I am able to do group content, however I do not think leveling up a crafting profession should require it.

Why would you spend “massive amounts of time and resources” on something that does not benefit you in the first place anyway?

I’m not sure what you mean by this. It sounds like you are saying because you don’t personally enjoy professions you are happy they are ruined (for everyone else)?

If you’re able to do it, then do it. Not much problem there.

I can’t, so I won’t. Not much problem there either.

Not sure at this point who you’re getting offended on behalf of.

Effort is a lot more than dungeons. You are already hunting a lot of mats as is to make those equipment (I just made them for this char and each piece is 20 expulsom + others).

We already have part of missions that do that like upgrades to outposts where it’s a combination of mission + activities. Those don’t have any dungeon.

Dungeons is just a component of that particular equipment, which makes sense since it a part of the game. Is there something wrong with that?

Thats some very silly logic. There are all sorts of things people are able to do but shouldn’t have to based on the circumstances.

All I’m saying is you should be able to max out a profession without running mythic dungeons if that is your desire.

You can though.

Which profession forces you to do a dungeon?

Yes, there is. Just like it would be weird to make pvpers run dungeons for pvp gear, its weird to make crafters run dungeons to level up their crafting.

They want mythic/heroic quality gear.

I was addressing their statement which was to max out a profession.

Blacksmithing. At the moment I can only skill up with hydrocore/tidalcore items.

What?! No I don’t lol. I don’t care about gear as a casual player… I just want to level some professions.

No hydrocore needed.

Exactly. If you want mythic gear, you have to do mythic content.

This should apply regardless of whether you skinned a couple bears or not.

If that’s the case you’re in luck. That guide even has a non-dungeon, non-PvP path to max out.

Just run the mythic dungeon bro? You could tank it for an instant invite. It’s not a big deal.

I didn’t know there was another trainer in Nazjatar with different recipes than the Boralus trainer! Doh! :flushed:

Thank you very much!
