Crafting Orders need a rework

I’m going to keep this simple because my knowledge of this system is low as I just started actually making a real attempt to use it.

No one uses public crafting orders. I have not seen 1 in a week that I have attempted to look at them now that I’m finally attempting to do a crafting profession.

I feel like 90% of the player base doesn’t even know they exists or how to use them.

The whole crafting order system needs a rework and needs to be moved to the auction house interface to draw traffic to it.

You are judging whole system on public orders while people are mostly using guild or personal orders and new patron orders in TWW.
Public orders are used only for items without quality, besides one expansion is over and new one launches and there is nothing people want at this time.

Question: Did you make any public order for someone to fulfill?

It could probably use some more attention drawn to it, but I doubt anyone wants much of anything crafted from DF and TWW is about to launch which will drive some renewed interest.

They’re not intended to be your primary source of income or experience, and people who used public orders for gear were relatively rare in Dragonflight.

Most people, on purchasing the expensive mats required to make something this early in the expansion, want to know exactly what they can expect to get from the crafter before they trust you with their mats - so they’re in trade chat looking for crafters that way and sending personal orders with minimum qualities on.

In DF public orders were mostly used by greasy scammers putting up orders for expensive BoE items like toys and dracothyst, that had no quality, with no materials or tips supplied so they could flip the crafted item for quick profit. Blizz stepped on that this expansion and now you need to submit materials with a public order, so the public order list is empty and likely won’t populate much due to the inability to set a minimum quality.

There aren’t very many items out there where quality doesn’t matter, so I suspect we won’t see public orders til very late in the expansion, when people are levelling their 8th alt and don’t really care about the quality of the item because they’re reasonably sure crafters will be able to make it to a decent standard.

The sole exception to this that I can see are Algari Treatises, which crafters will want every week for at least the first season to help them get knowledge points - they become active after reset tomorrow, so if you’re playing a scribe you’ll probably see quite a few!

the whole system needs a rework. Early access has been out less than a week. Regular launch was today? I see someone looking for a leatherworking. I link my patterns I have and get “you’re not even 100” and the player was already looking for 590 rank 5 gear.

Am I missing something? why is crafting so impossible to level much less do as a regular player?

Yeah crafting in wow is broken and unplayble unless you have an entire guild backing you up and funneling you work and resources.

Its literally just not viable at all and will probably just lose you gold.

The largest issue by far is the fact we cannot select what rank we want the craft can be. NPCs can select the quality of the craft and we cannot even attempt it if we cannot get that quality. Yet players cannot select the quality. No one’s going to use it for gear that has a quality cause we could spend 100k+ gold put a 10k tip and get a quality 1 craft simply because we cannot select the dang quality.

You literally got a walkthrough of how to do crafting orders in Dragonflight expansion.
There is nothing like that in TWW.

The Patron crafting orders need to get some work on them done because there is no way I am supplying all the mats for a measly 75g reward and some random mats and 30 acuity.

I have seen a bunch of public orders for Blacksmithing. Mostly the BoP profession tools. Though a few were armor and weapons.

Yes they need to allow players to set the quality required in the public orders window.

At first I was totally insulted by these. But being ahead of the curve for an armorer like myself the thing I’m really after is knowledge. And losing 5-10k gold to get an extra step on knowledge is actually a good tradeoff.

Except that 10K gold isn’t a good trade off because you get pathetic amounts of acuity for it.

Because peoples would always select r5 and unless your profession is maxed you cannot to that. How do you level if you cannot do the public orders? Public is used to skill up. You want a a result in particular? Find a crafter!

People are just going to use it as a skill up. You have to find someone you trust. They should probably add the ability to set a minimum quality like Patron Orders do. The only problem with that is everyone would set the minimum quality to max rank.
