Crafting Orders - How Much Do You Tip?

Hello everyone, I’m getting back into WoW after a very long hiatus.

I’ve never used the Crafting Order system before, and I’d like to get a weapon made.

(Fortune Crafted, ~ilvl 658). I have the mats and will just be listing it, but I’m unsure of how much to tip.

What amount is customary for something like this? Does the increased craft quality require something from the crafter that I have to account for? Or is it simply something they do from being maxed out on crafting?

i see tips most often ranging from 1k to 5k. I craft a lot.

the crafter must have many points in that item to make it be max rank the harder the item is.

i’m still not maxed out on crafting. It is long and expensive to get maxed.

First, welcome back!

Second, if you are looking for a max rank out of your crest, stay away from public listing. Ask in trade. At this point a lot of crafters have filled most of the knowledge trees that can accommodate you. Myself, apart from pvp recipes, I charge 5k for any types of craft across all professions. I craft most days at this price.

If you provide all mats, some will work for the lowest possible commission. If you don’t provide all mats, a lot will refuse if the commission does not cover their costs. Personally I could do warbound work orders and be fine, as is I have to do personal ones and tip 1s, my work fir friends and guildmates follows the mats=lowest commission, no or missing mats=cover my costs.

1 silver, because it’s my alts.

2k-5K depending on what I have made.

I look it up to see how much the crafter had to grind to be able to make the max rank and try to tip accordingly.

3-5k depending on how much I have on that character n what they’re crafting.

I tend to tip ~5k if it’s a low-tier piece of gear (like, no-crest crafted stuff for a new alt or something) and 10-15k if I’m making a Gilded piece for my main.

for small stuff that doesn’t require concentration i tip like 200ish gold.

for stuff that I want at max rank i give 1500-2000g depending on how much gold i have atm.

But I get all my stuff done with guildies that I can’t do myself. They also follow roughly the same gold amounts when they need me to craft something, a couple are really gold rich so they will tip like 5k though.

Don’t go beyond 1K. Don’t let anyone tell you differently; how they have to use concentration (which is on them), how they had to invest points into it (apparently, that takes effort), and how they left the stove on just to click a button and mail you the item.

Anything above 1K is someone taking advantage of you.

tips are all over the place, in terms of what is being crafted. I usually try to tip 10% of the costs of mats, for an item. Of course, I will vary it depending on what is being crafted. I will tip more for rare patterns, for example. I remember early on in the expansion, some people tipping over 100k gold for items, which is a little bit rediculous, in my opinion.

I usually don’t tip more than a few thousand gold for an item.

For reference, I have all crafting professions maxxed.

To me Tip around 1k-5k is common curiety and if some one do job well done 10k or more is earn.

Because I do all my crafting in-house with my own alts.

1-5k, depending on the item. If it was a weekly item like the knowledge books, would have been about 500g.

Seems to be the usual from the crafting orders I done, though every now and then someone tosses out 10-20k to get a gun crafted which is always nice.

Yea this is mostly what I do. The new system where you can craft for your alts (via the guild table) is amazing.

@ OP, if you can, have guildies craft for you. Any decent guild will craft whatever you want (if they are able) for free.

10k for gears.

I used to tip 1k but realized that I don’t do prof’s as they are a mess of a grind and I do not like them anymore, at all.

So with that in mind I upped my tip amount, anyone grinding that horrible mess out, and offering me gear progression too, deserves a decent tip.

I tip 5k and I don’t bother with anything less than a gilded piece. People seem fine with it, I advertise it in the chat when I’m asking. I only do it a couple times per season. 5k for them to press a button with my mats provided seems fair.

300 or so and nothing more. Aint had an issue yet with someone not doing it.

I tip more than I want to but less than you want to be tipped.

Avoid public order for your weaps or gear if you want guaranteed 5T. Advertise in trade chat, link the item, amount of tip (I would say 2k) and you will get plenty of wsps offering personal order, where u can set guaranteed 5T.
