Crafting order scammers and a possible solution

I cannot stand the rampant people trying to scam with work orders on my realm. It makes it difficult to find the actual players trying to get gear crafted. yea I know about NMNM, but there is no reason I should need to install a program to get past scammers.

My suggestion?

Make it a minimum of 250g to post an order. Plain and simple fix.

I am just about completed my alts and don’t usually bother with sending them crafting orders anymore but paying the commission on that for every alt wouldn’t appeal to me.

No mats No Make is an addon that solves your problem.

A minimum of 250g won’t change anything lol

How about knowledge points not being tied to that and it being just a side thing to get BOP gear. It says non also so just do the ones that says all .

I stopped bothering, I barely see any to begin with.

See their post, which says:

you can always LOOK AT THE AUCTION

It’s really obvious when a customer doesn’t supply all the mats. The game warns you more than once. Shouldn’t need an addon for that.

Hey, Im not getting into a fistfight with you about stuff, Im just pointing out the OP offered a solution and maybe address their post, not get all CAPSLOCK about it.

Me, I just want the Ignore function to have an option for the crafting system. If I could Ignore the obvious fishers on the craft list, it would cut down any aggro about it.

i’d like that too, actually

It already does?

So there is a addon that helps. Noted.

It’s not a scam
You can literally see if they’ve provided the mats and/or a commission that’s big enough for you to take.

No addon required.

Just /ignore the people who spam a bunch of no-mats orders constantly to clean up the list a little.

Where? I just looked at it and couldnt see one. Id honestly like to know what Im missing.

Click on one of the scam crafting orders, and near the top left where it says “order placed by” there will be a dropdown arrow to the right of the person’s name. Click the arrow, and then click Ignore.

Maybe it should be split into two lists or searches?

Customer 1 posts his request for item with full mats included.

Crafters in the first order window can fulfill it as usual.

Customer 2 posts his request for item with partial or no mats included.

Crafters in the second order window can submit work bids (?) for the order and draw from their own mats or the auction house mats with some ui help for calculating totals.

Customer 2 accepts a bid and the work order is issued.

Admittedly its more steps and could result in extra days with both parties having to approve multiple steps, but maybe it could work?

It could have a million flaws though. I’m not very bright. Namely, how do you reserve mats at the quote price if it takes time to complete approval process. Will mat prices sky-rocket? Idk.

how about you just look at the order before clicking accept order and then take a second look before you click craft, then take a third look when you see a pop-up that says “you will be filling this order with some of your own materials.” If you don’t take any one of those three opportunities to decline the order, idk what to tell you.

First not a scam.

Second deposit is a terrible idea and is not what is needed at all.

Third and what Blizzard should have done in the first place, is to have the interface be configurable with options to show different things like -with mats, -with tip, -with min tip, ect.

I find it hard to understand how anyone could see an item listed with no materials provided and a minimal ‘tip’ and think it would be a good order to fill.

Its pretty easy to figure out how much crafting materials cost (even without a lot of add ons) and a simple calculation can tell you if filling an order with a commission that would not cover your material costs would do you out of gold. Surely the game doesn’t have to hold everyone’s hand?

You guys actually have orders? Man, I’d love to even see scammer orders, but it’s a wasteland for me.
