What the hell was blizzard thinking with some of these reagents?
There are enchants that are literally 4k per enchant due to certain material requirements. And im not talking about weapon enchants.
And also, many of these consumables are way weaker than the df counterparts, like the stat enchants for example.
What the hell is this blizzard?
That is what happens when you put ranks in chanting mats, no means of refining and random ranks from DE.

It wasn’t like this in DF, aside weapon enchants.
The problem is that they are requiring rare materials for common recipes.

The thinderbox problem has been alleviated, what remains is the quantity of mats required, there unpredictable quality in procuring them and some recipes being a pain to acquire.
Don’t ask questions just buy more tokens.

I feel like a lot of that has been tuned around the idea that you’re actually gathering materials and not just buying them. Blacksmith gets the short end of the stick because of how the alloy ingots work, but the other ones that I’ve run don’t seem to be nearly as much of a problem, if you have the appropriate gathering as well.
JC is the other sore spot for me. The dust is very cost prohibitive.
Here’s the problem though, farming your own mats takes time, time that you have to take away from something else that you might enjoy more.
Blizzard just needs to increase the drop rate, or reduce material cost, this is ridiculous. DF was not like this, you had a few rare reagents, but costs were more or less standard compared to previous expansions.
Atm, it is time vs money.
If you have time and no money, you farm mats and craft.
If you have money and no time, you buy token and craft.
If you have neither, you are playing wrong game.

If you enjoy something else on the game more, why are you spending the effort And gold on leveling a profession, rather than simply using the crafting order system, and letting someone else do the hard work of leveling and gearing?
Admittedly the main reason why this complaint makes me wonder is that out of the four professions that I’ve leveled so far, blacksmithing is the only one or I’ve had to go out of my way for resource gathering. Leatherworking, tailoring, and enchanting I’ve had very little problem gathering mats on while I’m running around doing other things. It feels like people are still focused on double crafting that bliz has tried to move away from.
I do fully agree with you though that recipe cost is over tuned. The majority of major ingredients need to be reduced by 25% on the minimum and I think that would put it in a much better spot.
I haven’t done jewelcrafting yet, so I guess I’ve got that to look forward to. Working my way through alchemy and inscription right now.
Blacksmithing - 8 patron orders available - 6 of them require between 6 to 12 Sanctified Alloy. 31k in mats since Sanctified Alloy is only provided about 3% of the time. Cant get the skill up items because 31k isnt worth it
Our basic high end crafts requiring 3 to 4 propane tinder boxes and null stones for each one is a major issue.
Tinderboxes are really cheap now due to the vendor and null stones are much more accessible (people finally specing into getting full nullstones). I actually just got 8 full null stones yesterday in a 1 hr session.
