There are now craft order sniping addons that watches for keywords that borders on the red line of automation. And yet they are manual use only as the player has to click on the ‘glorified macro’ to shoot a reply to the requester.
They open whisper channels at the requester’s end, multiple players with such an addon are now becoming an annoyance detracting from crafter folk not using the addon.
This COULD also be used as a key logging attack to sniff pc addresses, posing a unique security risk.
I don’t think you know how keyloggers work.
Or addons for that matter… I don’t think the OP understands that we can only use the Blizzard functions that Blizzard lets us use. For this to work, we’d have to have Admin/Super User access to the event queue (so that we could listen to events not belonging to containers we have access to) and they’d have to deliberately code this for us to use, and then they’d have to let us have that functionality in LUA.
Edit: oh, and also I think a lot of the chat scanners–which read and parse the chat log–are weak auras, not addons per se
FWIW, that’s a difference without a distinction. A weakaura is basically an addon based on a framework. Anything you can do in a weakaura, you can do as a full-fledged addon.
…what insane leap of mental logic led to this? O_o Addons can only do what Blizzard allows them to in the API, and I seriously doubt Blizzard allows you to determine the IP address of another player via addons.
A weak aura is LUA executed within the weak auras addon, whereas an addon is LUA executed directly. shrug The words “per se” means “by or in itself”.
Literally, “through or by itself”. Yeah, I studied Latin too.
Like I said, a distinction without a functional difference.
