Crafting and finding crafters on 'medium' and below server pops - Soul crushing

I need a recraft. It’s just not happening. This barrier needs to be brought down and this ‘customer service’ meta of crafting needs to go.

Yea I understand that. It’s like asking in Valdrakken but getting radio silence. I’m lucky on Saurfang seems to still be crafter heavy - but many places aren’t.

I find it absurd that 90% of servers are just total traps

Even then if you’re also on the wrong faction on the server also good luck with that as you can’t use the same trade channel to ask for crafting. You need to make a toon on the other side or ask someone that you know on the other side.

checks if you’re on my server (you’re not)

I’m on the lowest pop server of the entire game so I’ve leveled up all the professions myself across alts. I’ll never get Elemental Lariat but oh well. It has oddly or perhaps sadly been one of the funner things I’ve been doing in DF. I guess because it’s such a long progression that lasts the entire expansion opposed to raiding/m+ where you can be at 99% of max potential in a few weeks each season. I hated the system entirely at first and still hate a lot of things about it but I like having things to continually progress on.

Yeah, I can definitely see that being a problem on medium and low pop servers. I really enjoy the new system, but this is one of the things that they need to improve on.

It’s kind of sad they put a lot of effort into the new crafting system, only to over compensate and make it too complex to be useful.

What does this mean? In my opinion, the new system is the most useful one we have ever had.

The crafting system is a total flop for people on dead servers. On busy servers the lfw spam is almost as bad as the carry spam. Thank goodness for /leave and badboy addon.

All these dead servers still exist, and new players still get “reccomended” to these dead realms only to realize that the convenience of a higher pop server is absolutely game changing, so they need to pay for a transfer to experience such convenience.

Any credible design team would obviously say that it’s completley asinine to have that many servers, and that Blizzard should just merge all the dead servers, but they don’t do that for a very obvous reason. It’s such a slimy way to make money off your player base.

Agree with most of this but one issue is the name /server conflict who gets to keep their name when mergers happen.

I’m gonna have to agree.

The new crafting system completely falls flat on its face when combined with dead servers (which is basically any server medium and below). It’s a seriously bad gameplay design that simply doesn’t work due to it basically not functioning at all in such circumstances. If blizz is gonna start creating systems that simply don’t work at all on low pop realms, then at the very least they should be merging servers on masse beforehand. Either that or make work orders and trade chat fully cross-server.

That is not an issue whatsoever, and certainly not one that justifies putting players on these dead servers, or them even existing in general.

I can see how that would be super freaking annoying.

For me, the system has been really cool with the exception of public orders. I am not socially skilled and don’t like whispering strangers, so I’ve been using public orders and for the most part it’s worked out, but I have received really bad quality items a couple times.

I am not sure how to fix that, honestly.

the inability to post recrafts as public orders is ludicrous. I have spent days looking for recrafts.

it just can’t be that difficult to create a system that allows the requestor to post their mats and identify the ilevel of the recraft and only those with the recipe and skill level to make that ilevel would see it.

Yes, it the most useful no doubt
And the most convoluted and complicated system…unfortunately, blizzard only knows two modes. Too easy and too complicated nothing in between.

The issue with a recraft is the piece of gear is no longer in your possession while its in the process. I remember reading threads about people having their gear held hostage for the full 30 minutes.

It’s supposed to incentivize you to make lifelong friends. People who are currently on dead realms (not new players who are encouraged to roll on dead servers) are supposed to look at their predicament and dig deep into their wallet, repeatedly. This process should be the gateway transaction that will turn them into whales who will pay hundreds of dollars a month without a care or thought.

It’s all about profit.

in general, I agree, but with two caveats.

  1. the tiered system of item quality is super clunky. I have never been much of a crafter, but trying to get from one quality level to the next was annoying.

  2. the recrafting system doesn’t make sense. If a public order can make it, then a public order should be able to recraft it.
