So im on this alt asking for a ring and trinket and someone said they can make both. Cool! They make a r5 ring but then they get on their alt to make the trinket and its a 2 star! I even tipped them, I feel totally ripped off. And to put salt on the wound I can’t even recraft cause I dont have those recrafting mats.
Crafting quality is a terrible idea in a competitive game like this imo, but at least people can still scam each other!
It is pretty dumb that the game doesnt offer any way to verify a crafter’s rough stats or allow players to rate, or… something, ANYTHING
its actually on you to ask, and even then R5 on high end stuff is never guaranteed to be R5, it’s an inspiration proc
Its not even high end, its 392 newbie tier.
…if you sent a personal work order, you can specify quality. Why did you not put the minimum at 5 star? Or even 4 star?
Sometimes I’ll put it at 4 star, because some crafters will use the recraft feature if they craft a 4 star to recraft it to 5 star for the customer. (I know one trinket crafter who does it for customers for their reputation lol)
Yeah, thats on me. I just assumed he could make a r5. Out of all my characters and crafted items I haven’t had to put a rank on it. This one time I get burned though which I guess isn’t that bad but still. It sucks to feel ripped off.
Just learn from it then.
Recrafting mats are a fraction of the cost. Just buy them and find a new person to recraft it for you.
As Maizou said, for a Personal Order, you should always specify R5 for 392/405 gear. If the crafter can’t do it, they have to decline the order (or let it expire to spite you).
For 418 gear talk to the crafter in advance, ask about free recrafts and their inspiration chance (should be 40-44%). Then, if you’re ready to place an order set it at R4 and put a note in the order that you’re looking for R5 and are willing to do recrafts. You may have to supply mats for recrafts, depending on the commission accounting for recraft mats or not (3* mats will get you better chance at 418). Most 418 gear can’t be guaranteed at R5 and requires an inspiration proc (my weaponsmith can do R5 guaranteed but no missive nor embellishment–add either and I need a proc).
Some crafters include use of their Illustrious Insight in the commission, while others have burned all their mettle on lots of customers and charge quite a lot if you want them to use one. That often guarantees a R5 without a proc, but not always (my weaponsmith using an Insight can do a missive or embellishment but not both without a proc).
Blizzard’s interface for linking a profession in chat should really show the crafters Skill, Inspiration, and Multicraft as those can impact order fulfillment. Too bad they missed the mark on that (the whole trade-chat to find a crafter thing also kind of sucks, they need an automated match-service like the AH).
Some are proc only unfortunately, so you have to set it to rank 4 and recraft a few times to get 5.
I’ve learned to ask to set to R3 actually, for that 1% that sends me a 418 recraft using R1 mats.
Very few are proc only, since most can be overcome with an insight (as to spending 50 mettle to guarantee is worth it is oftentimes debatable). I believe the ONLY case I have ran into a blacksmithing 418 weapon with an embellishment and missive. It was outside the range of insights. Other cases would just be crafts or recrafts that were crafted with low quality mats.
Most good crafters want R4 (or lower) set either because of the “bug” when recrafting, or so they can proc up.
Some look like proc only, since it adds the difficulty of multiple infusions and/or missives/embellishments that were changed or removed, but that added difficulty is 100% cosmetic outside of forcing crafters to have the min quality lowered to rank 4 (or sometimes 3).
Another reason that i think the crafting systems is teh worse i have ever seen in this game. I refused to engage with that nonsnse and no amount of gearing blackmail could get me to want to try. The devs are so out of touch it used to be funny but now it’s just sad.
Imagine if you could just craft the gear you want to sell and then put it on the auction house.
look how many problems that solves!
Wish this was the case for alchemy, most of the upper end pots and phials require me to inspire proc, even with with being maxed out.
