Crafted weapons?

Hello, newer player here.

I keep coming across youtube content where crafted weapons are recommended ilvl 720, but the crafting research I have been doing is coming up empty handed. I suspect wowhead is out of date or maybe I am searching the wrong information.

Can someone please help me out on this? Thanks!

The cliff notes version is that you can get an epic BOP crafted item made via the crafting order NPC, which is kind of southeast of the auction house in dornogol.

You would need to give it an upgrade item(bought from the enchanting supply vendor in dornogol), using currency you can get from different types of content. They’re called crests and you should have some in your currency tab.

But also a spark, which is created using valor stones and time gates spark shards or whatever they’re called this season. Should be a weekly quest in dornogol you can do to get them.

Edit: to specifically answer your ilvl question. The ilvl is determined by crafter skill and the level of upgrade item you put in it. 720 is cap, I think like 685 is the floor.

60 gilded crests can be turned into an npc near the crafting order earthen and assuming it’s max quality this results in a 720 ilev weapon (or any other piece).

Adding to the above, one of the simpler ways to get gilded crests to craft a 720 is by doing three t11 bountiful delves a week (plus using a bountiful map in one of them).

This nets you 31 gilded crests a week, so two weeks gets you a crafted 720.

another addition. if you want ilvl 720. buy lvl 3 matts and make sure you tell the crafter you want a 5 star craft.

Yeah don’t do a public order. You can’t control the quality level if you do that.

You’ll want to do a guild order, or a personal order with someone on your server cluster.

Better to select rank 5 as the minimum quality accepted when you place the crafting order. This way if they cannot make rank 5 they cant do your order. Finding someone to do only rank 5 is easy.

Yeah this late in the expansion, anyone serious about crafting should be able to rank 5 without using ingenuity. If you’re in a low pop server struggling to get an order done, you can always do it through guilds which are cross realm.

This is the crafting order NPC:

The crest vendor is next to them:

You will need Sparks of Starlight for epic crafts and an Algari Missive to lock in the secondary stats. And your spec may want to add an embellishment, but at this point most of them are of relatively marginal value:

You get however many Sparks are needed for your chosen weapon, 1 spark for one-hand or 2 sparks for two-hand.

You get the crests you need for the craft level you want, in this case 60 Gilded Ethereal Crests, and buy an Enchanted Gilded Ethereal Crest from the vendor either next to the Enchanting station or to the right of the crafting order building as you face it.

If you want specific stats, you go to the Auction House, enter Algari Missive into the search bar, and select the one that offers the stats you want.

If you want an embellishment, you go to the Auction House, then type the name of the embellishment reagent you want into the search bar and buy it.

You take all of the materials you need, seek out a crafter willing to make your item through the appropriate chat channels (Trade or Trade (Services)). When you find one, write their name down or copy it by right-clicking it in the chat and selecting Copy Character Name.

Finally, you speak to one of the Crafting Orders NPCs, find the item you wish to have crafted either by navigating through the drop-down menus on the left side of the panel or by typing the item’s name into the search box, take a moment to make sure you’ve put in everything you want (Missive, Enchanted Crest, Embellishment, et cetera), type or paste your crafter’s name into the name field in the upper right of the panel, select the minimum quality from the drop-down menu nearby the name field, enter the amount of gold you’ve decided to put toward their services, click Place Order and await your order’s completion.

If paying for it is an issue, then you can entirely bypass the haggling portion by just being your own crafter because you can send these same crafting orders to your alts to make them yourself.

If you decide to pursue a Public Order, then expect to receive a lower quality craft regardless of the price you set. Public Orders have no quality assurance as Guild Orders and Personal Orders do.

One other point. If you can’t get gilded crests - which are awarded from the most difficult content - the top level delves (T11), mythic+ dungeons and mythic+ raids, then you can get an enchanted runed crest for 45 runed crests at the same vendor.

This will allow you to get your weapon crafted to 704. Crafted items can be re-crafted later if you want to upgrade to a higher ilvl or change something like the secondary stats (you might have chosen crit / haste and now want haste / mastery) or you might not have added an embellishment when the weapon was first made and decide you want one later. This comes at a cost of additional materials, but in smaller amounts - and you don’t need additional sparks. If you decide to simply change the stats or add an embellishment, you also won’t need another enchanted crest. By now, almost every semi-serious crafter should be maxed out in all the categories that matter, so it should be easy to find someone on your server that can get your weapon made. Just put out a comment in trade chat asking for help making a weapon.

Recrafting can also upgrade last season’s crafted items, as long as you have this season’s spark and enchanted crest. This means crafted items can be recrafted at a more reasonable cost as each season is released. It’s a pretty good system.

Thanks for all the replies! May as well just stick to M+ jesus

Another benefit of crafted gear is you can upgrade them each new content patch and save whatever gems/enchants are on it instead of replacing the item and needing new gems/enchants each tier. Recrafts are usually way more affordable than the permanent consumables.

But this is the final raid tier for TWW so just some info to keep in the back pocket for Midnight.
