Thanks so much for the in depth response you’ve helped me understand. I reckon I’m still going to get the new motherboard and 9800X3D, while it’s more expensive I also hear the chip runs cooler than my 14700k which just pumps out heat next to me, plus then I don’t have to stress about the CPU killing itself (I updated the bios etc but it’s still a concern). If I got 7600MHz RAM and then still had to change to the AMD chip that money is wasted coz I can’t realistically run it more than 6000MHz on the AMD system but would have higher latency (lowest I could find on a high speed kit was CL36 whereas my current 6000MHz kit is CL30). Plus, while I don’t think the gain would be huge for the other games I play - Marvel Rivals, Helldivers 2, Space Marine 2, Hogwarts Legacy and Cyberpunk - it would still be a decent uplift even at 1440p 144hz, whereas the difference with the RAM wouldn’t be as pronounced, correct? My main game is WoW though, and I can sell my Intel board and cpu only at a slight loss luckily.
