Cox latency issues

i can login to the game fine, but after a couple minutes i get high latency into the 3000-5000 for home and world. Internet browsing seems fine.

11/9/2019 update:
I just tried logging into a different game server. My current game server is Area52. Area52 is the server where I have the high latency problems. By chance I tried a different game server Tichondrius. So far no lag issues and my latency is not bad. Has anyone ever had this problem?

Hi, I get CONSTANT lag spikes, RANDOM disconnects whiles questing… this is no way to game… is this on my end or cox end or blizz end? I did a ping thing… please help!

Thanks for the connection tests, Fortzz! There’s definitely some packet loss on the connection tests provided. It looks like it’s starting at the home network or just outside of the home network. This looks like throttling or mitigation on the connection, could you try checking for some router settings like QoS (Quality of Service), WMM (Wireless Multimedia), and UPnP (Universal Plug and Play)? This commonly causes mitigation and prioritization issues within the home network, which can cause the constant packet loss on the WinMTR tests. If you are wireless, try a wired connection and lastly, resetting the network devices is recommended!

We’re seeing a few other reports with Cox that we’re keeping track of, which can point to possibly throttling issues or some common changes like a firmware update on the home network devices.

I went ahead and moved you over here, Spicynugs! Could you provide a WinMTR test as well while in-game or attempting to connect? Run the test for 10-15 minutes. Copy and paste the text file created and paste it between two ~~~ like so:

Spicynugs,

You’re also showing loss at the same location - in your case it seems to be happening either as you first hit your router or as the connection tries to leave.

Do you have a separate modem/router, or an all in one combo? If it’s separate, what happens if you bypass the router and wire into the modem directly? If it’s a single unit, try the troubleshooting we mentioned above for the OP and contact Cox if it doesn’t help. The packet loss would be between your router and ISP in that case, and they’ll need to sort out the cause with you.
