When hunting animals, it’s not the caliber that matters, it’s the act of trying to hit something 300 yards away with a pistol.

It’s much easier to do that with a rifle.

Listen if people are hunting with bow and arrow and a crossbow im sure a pistol is fine

Actually crossbows are known to be far less accurate at distances than regular bows, and regular bows are accurate much the same reason rifles are, in that you have sights further away from you than with a pistol.

And there’s also the case of barrel length affecting trajectory, too.
