Anyone else on the ally side noticing a startling discrepancy between how frequently horde are willing to start fights vs alliance? Or even involve themselves in fights when they see them?
I can only speak to my own experiences thus far, but I have seen numerous situations where allies will just ignore PvP in progress and keep griding away like robots. Meanwhile, horde appear to understand far better the meaning of kinship, and will almost always back up a fellow hordie.
If I am fighting a horde and another shows up, it’s time to dip.
I don’t have a list of names but maybe I should start keeping one. There is no excuse for this kind of cowardice on a PVP server. Literally the only thing you stand to lose is a short hike back to your corpse.
If you are an alliance pacifist, you’re probably nowhere near endgame yet, so there is still plenty of time for you to go play on Bloodsail Buccaneer if you don’t like WPVP happening when you’re out grinding murlocs. It’s okay not to like having fun, there is a whole server for people who share your mentality.
But if you’re going to stay on grobb, please consider trying to be a better team player, understand that wpvp is not an optional component on this server (and that the only way to learn how to be better at it is through practice), and please start doing a better job of representing this faction in the field.
And if you share my feelings on this subject, please spread the word (IC or OOC). Let’s put these fence-sitting quiverers on notice that their shameful conduct will no longer be tolerated within the ranks of our proud alliance.
I definitely disagree with your sentiment that if somone witnesses pvp against their faction that the expectation is for them to be required to participate.
It’s called being a team player. If our side kills the horde in an area then our side gets access to the resources there. The opposite is equally true. It’s an important strategic benefit of being proactive rather than reactive in WPVP.
I often see people complaining in General chat that they are being prevented from questing by horde assailants. This is a PVP server working as intended. Just because there isn’t some flag you can go and click on to visually take over a given centaur camp or ogre cave doesn’t mean that we aren’t literally competing at all times over who can go where.
Haha you are right. If I see an alliance I will kill them, sometimes I’ll kill an alliance while there is another alliance right next to them not helping then I will kill them too.
This is what someone told me, about WPvP, when it comes to the different factions.
Horde - The Horde will start fight and every horde in the zone will gang up on that one lone Alliance, regardless of level and leave when the fighting becomes more equal.
Alliance - They could see one of their own having a 1v1, and a single heal or damage could definitely save their Alliance Comrade, but they don’t because they think “Oh thank god it’s not me”.
I’m in the same boat, trying to learn my class. Thing is, the best way to learn is by doing. I have consulted guides, but there is no guide that is going to sit in my chair and play the game for me. I freely admit that I lose many of the fights I begin; sometimes embarrassingly.
But losing is learning. I can’t say I’ve ever died and thought “there was nothing I could have done better there.”
I prefer not to fight, I will heal my faction if needed or defend myself, and I do my best to respect 1v1’s in progress of close level. I know many don’t follow that but please don’t tell me I’m wrong for it for some made up reason.
Better to help out to demonstrate your willingness to help your faction friends in the area than not and receive similar treatment from your unwillingness to act on other’s behalf.
I’m a healer. I have a compulsion to keep my buds healed.
I don’t go after grays. I don’t think there’s any benefit or fun to doing so. But if you see horde fighting alliance for control of an area then why wouldn’t you help them? Why did you join a server with this as a core mechanic if you don’t like using it?
In my experience, I have helped horde players when they are dying to mobs then they come back and attack me when there are 1-2 more people around them. I have helped alliance players who are getting ganked in similar situations only to be camped at my corpse for helping them.
In the end I tend to ignore fights where alliance starts it and then get slaughtered because - B R U H - I just wanna level
