Covenants should go

They don’t add any character identity… they just limit options.

I just spent awhile putting together a group for M+. I waded through the LFG for a good long time trying to make sure I had the buffs and utility I needed. Then at the end I found out that someone was running the non-optimal covenant (and the one we needed for the dungeon). I think at this point Blizzard wants me to think “wow, it sure will be fun climbing this mountain that is a little higher than it needs to be because my group is sub-optimal!” I had no such thought. I got frustrated, apologized to the group, left, and came here to complain.

I’m a druid and NF and don’t feel like I’m more connected to nature or anything. It was really just “What is good for my spec in the role I want to play?”

I didn’t want to be NF. I was actually wanting to be necrolord for that “Persephone in hell” type deal. Glad I didn’t because your choice really does feel meaningless from a roleplay perspective. It sure as hell isn’t meaningless in content.

Which is part of meaningful choice. Meaningful doesn’t always mean fun, jack of all trades, or easily changed.

Make some friends. I don’t wait on key groups because I play with friends and guildies.

Some players pick for bis, some players pick for RP or cosmetic reasons. All still meaningful.

None of that has to do with character identity so I don’t understand why you made that claim

Yup, covenants are trash

How could they extend play metrics without covenants.

They want you to enjoy their version of “content”. Class halls worked. Covenants don’t. And the reason they exist and why we are helping them is corny.

If the covenants had more rp value, I would agree with you. However the only meaningful decision for them is bis and cosmetics. I don’t feel like a champion for the Winter Queen any more than I am a champion for, feck, I don’t know… the Alliance. They’re just kind of there handing me quests the same as any other.

It’s also the fact the covenant campaign for NF is very, uh, not even about the player. It’s Exposition The Side Content.

Especially considering they will be irrelevant next expansion.

Not really. Restricting the ability to make choices doesn’t add meaning, it just adds punishment to the game for many players.

Rumor has it that Dapler is a pretty likable guy. Why can’t all the covenants want him at the same time?

‘wrong covenant’ what a stupid expression. There is no case where you need a specific cov ability you just want to be lazy and cheese the dungeon instead of actually having to play.

We’re all standing in the ripcord line. When that door opens is anyone’s guess

Never as the term is meaningless as nobody has a straight answer for what ‘pulling the ripcord’ means in WoW

There’s definitely a right and a wrong covenant. Dungeon mechanics are one thing, but you’ll be costing yourself like 1500 dps if you choose wrong. And…you probably want a kyrian for NW lol.

So so so sooooooo much this.
So many lovely pets and mounts and mogs were added to this expac to be locked behind a 1 in 4 ability of being able to use them. That just frustrates me no end.

You should go.

For me it’s do away with the associated powers and let it be cosmetic only.

I’m sorry but when one of the choices is “Apply flame shock, the most important thing you need to maintain on as many targets as possible, to everything in front of you and then make LB a multi target ability” and the other is “lol wave of damage” there isn’t really a choice to be made.
