Covenants are starting to show why they are bad and this is why

This is MINE view of the covenants as a casual, yep a casual boi

My goals in the game are not that high end thing and most of the ppl accomplish it, all 15’s, get pvp mount, get aotc. and yet I dont like underperforming, its just leave a bad taste in my mouth

As a casual boy i’ll tell you why I think covenants RN are bad, in my simple third language englando srry btw

Yep, the firsts day were awesome, you got 60 whit your class and had a blast in leveling, you chose your favorite thing based on what u liked and then became happy, like a little child with your most-liked covenant.

Then you, a casual andy like me, discovered that kyrian’s covenant are better in pvp and absolutely destroy your oponent and you with your precious covenant don’t, you are the guy being destroyed, then you discover that you can’t have it, and became sad like a true emo boi

Than later in the day you want to do some mythic’s with some friends, cause you want to time all 15’s to get the mount and find that your spec+covenant is also bad in mythics, but your other friend with the same class and spec is doing more damage than you by a lot, cause of his covenant, so you try to change to another spec and even there your spec+covenant still is bad, and you turn even sadder.

and then you go raid and its the only place that you are able to do some decent damage and not get laughed at or screamed by one of your friends or pugs, real good thing, but your friend its not having that kind of happinnes funny huh.

and then you get tired of being underperforming in 2 of the 3 contents you do, and have to do 1 week of quests and regrind all your renown again lmao

imagine this funny story happening, you can relate?

Be realistic, blizzard will NEVER be able to balance the covenants. If you like to lie to yourself go ahead lmao

Covenants should be swappable like a talent or spec without chains and chores, blizz shouldn’t hold until 9.3, when the game is already dead.

The majority of players won’t change covenant every week, most will just stop playing.

I don’t think they are your friends.

I guess this makes sense if you derive your sense of accomplishment or happiness based on what everyone else has…

IDC about any of that , all I care about is they lied to us when they said it wouldn’t be time gated content . Like why is it so grindy to level up reown ? I just wanna progress thru my coves story it’s interesting yet there is stuff that’s time gated .

Imo, I think Blizz just needs to hold Renown through all of the covenants so that you aren’t grinding for each if/when you switch just to get back up to the previous point you were at with ur former covenant.

Not a healthy mindset, get out of that rut ASAP.

Nope can’t relate and I am betting it didn’t happen either.

The majority of players won’t care about changing covenants every week.

Is this really what people think is casual these days?

This is the big point here. There will always be a “right” and “wrong” choice. Even the “best” covenant is only 1% better, nobody will take you seriously unless you play that covenant. I really don’t understand why they don’t just add another row to the talent tree.

lol… ok mate

Covenants should have always been an aesthetic choice anyway. You should have gotten a talent-like selection of abilities with covenant-specific cosmetic differences, but the same effective functionality.

Faster covenant swapping is a bandaid fix to a larger problem.

What makes you think someone can’t be both casual and good?

Wait do casuals do pvp and raids with guildies?

I just do quest, level alts. Being a lfr Hero was my thing until bfa and I just didn’t care any more. So yea just quest and level alts. Thats a casual right?

Anyways I dislike covenants because they’re just watered down Class Halls, but I’m holding out hope that’ll get better.

Why do you think other people should find it fun to get destroyed in PvP? I’m not understanding that part.

Here’s how it will play out.

Joe low information player will enter the game, planning on learning as he goes. Joe doesn’t like to spend his time doing research online. He isn’t interested in constructing multidimensional spreadsheets to optimize his playstyle. He just wants to play the game.

Joe hears that he should pick the covenant with the best PvP talent for his spec, because he likes queuing for random bgs. He hears you can buy honor gear and use honor to upgrade it, not quite like in the old days when he used to sub just to spam bgs for the entire expansion, but kind of like that.

After 2 months Joe gets his gear fully upgraded only to realize that he’s getting wrecked in bgs by raiders who have mythic/mythic+ gear and arena players who do mostly rated. Joe tries to get into groups but is always rejected because of his gear and his covenant.

Joe was duped into making an unrecoverable mistake. He can never catch up. He’s going to quit.

Marginal players are the ones who will be hurt the most by this system, because even if you think they’re too stupid to know whether they’re having fun or not, your opinion won’t matter to them. They’re not hanging on your every copy-and-paste word. They aren’t going to be willing to sacrifice their own fun if you think you deserve to have fun at their expense.

There is no end game for casuals. They’re just going to quit when they find out what you have done to it.

you act like covenant abilities are one shoting, what ability is that strong?

edit: because the strongest ones are defensive in nature and can be dispeled or cleansed, the one that ive seen people complain about the damage is a sigil which has to charge on the groud visable for 3 seconds, if you’re standing around for three seconds then you deserve to die

If you’re 60 already, farming covenant abilities, and now doing PVP, raiding and mythics all in the same day, you aren’t a casual. You’re entirely on the 100% playing with no-life train.

Imagine being a necrolord veng demon hunter, how happy they must be knowing they’re doing 40% less damage than their Kyrian veng friends
