Blizzard should add the covenants as allied races.
We saved their realm now they should do some menial chores and quests for the denizens of azeroth. They’d all be dead without us, like perma dead. So uh… they kinda owe us.

No, they shouldn’t, because the races’ loyalties are to the Shadowlands and not to some single planet that probably only a fraction of them lived on when they were alive, and they won’t because few if any of their models were designed with playability in mind. Pretty much all of them with the exception of sylvar would need to be remade in the same manner as nightborne; in particular, kyrian NPCs have next to no existing options, and Maldraxxus gladiators don’t even have visible faces.
If they wanted to make these races playable, they would’ve done it during Shadowlands instead of waiting after it was finished. The expansion is over and done, they’re focusing on dracthyr now and leaving SL as a painful memory, for the better.
An entire plane of existence does not “owe” us anything. We went to their home to stop a god from reshaping reality, and we succeeded. That doesn’t mean they’re going to leave their existences behind to become servants to some mortal planet and potentially die again in the next pointless war. By this logic, we should also have access to every single race that we fought alongside from vanilla to now, yet we don’t.
yes we s hould have this.
So bloat the game with a bunch of races whose numbers would still be dwarfed by humans, elves, and draenei? And then even more people complain when their favorite races don’t get enough class options, customization options, and/or involvement in the story, e.g. “vrykul need more presence in the Alliance”, “gilgoblins need more skintones”, “mantid should have paladins and I came up this cockamamie fanfic explaining how they could work” No thanks.
Agreed. Being able to play a Venthyr would be epic.
yes, because people deserve options.
Why are you so opposed to diversity? It’s our greatest strength!
“More races, more classes, more race/class combinations, more customizations, more heritage armors, more identity options, more”
Blizzard isn’t the wish-granting fairy godmother that people here are convinced it is, so I’d temper my expectations. A lot.
I’m opposed to things that I don’t think are likely to happen, as I’ve detailed above. If I’m proven wrong, that’s the end of it, but I haven’t seen any news on what will happen to the Covenant races going into DF.
No, they can’t survive without anima, and those who do come over are the kyrians in a “spirit world” version of Azeroth where souls await their time to be moved to shadowlands.
billion dollar company is a billion dollar company.
I am really hoping when we leave the Shadowlands the door is closed behind us. This entire expansion has ruined death inside the game if we can always return to the Shadowlands.
So no! None of the races of the Shadowlands should ever be Allied Races.
Every expansion since TBC has been that way. The denizens of the expansion are too stupid to handle their own problems. That’s when Champions arrive and fix everything because we can’t help ourselves! Should call the game World of Fix It Felix. I liked how MoP at least used deception to deny they had any problems until the Sha’s returned thanks to hostilities between the Alliance and Horde.
This is the company that takes 10+ years to update a single vanilla-era model, decided that recolors and model hacks of existing races are unique enough to qualify as full races, and nowadays rarely if ever adds completely new rigs to the game. If they’re really a “billion-dollar company”, they should act like it, because right now they don’t.
Why, so we can have a memento from this god awful expansion?
