Covenant Abilities, Bellular said it perfectly

In the video he talks about the new dk abilities that were announced. He said pretty much that after we go through each zone we unlock each new class ability. And after we complete them all we get a new shadowlands talent row where we get to pick the ability we want.

Blizzard please listen to this! This would be the perfect idea for the new class abilities. Everyone gets to pick the covenant that they want to be in. And at the same time no one is forced to pick a certain one just for one of those abilities.

He starts about it around 5 minutes in

Everyone with a clue knows that they need to keep cosmetics/RP separate from combat boosts.

They won’t though. This is going to be the thing people complain about throughout the entire expansion.

yeah thats why im hoping they change it soon before its too late

Unlike some feedback I’ve seen people try to spout out before an expansion releases, this is something I could actually see them being able to change before it’s too late.

Personally I’m not offended by having important abilities tied to a covenant choice. If the story has them directly granting us powers, it makes sense, and I’m fine with having impactful choices.

But I get why it will be frustrating to some players, and while I think most WoW players need to learn to calm down and that they don’t have to min-max everything, I think Blizzard should understand by now that that’s how their playerbase tends to be.

I can’t believe anyone takes Bellular seriously. All he does is feed into the outrage topics, he’s almost as bad as heelvsbabyface.

And then the devs will say “we hear you and agree this didn’t feel good, we’ll do better next time” as they give us a reskinned version of the same thing in 10.0.

“The game is too cookier cutter! Everyone picks the same choices! Talent trees were better! They offered more choices to customize our characters!”.

“NO BLIZZ BAD BLIZZ DON’T MAKE US CHOOSE THINGS WITH COVENANTS”.

smh. This player base is its own worst enemy. I say bring on the covenents, make them different, make them something that makes it worth playing multiple alts of the same class too, just to get a different feel on a Necrolord Paladin vs a Kyrian Paladin.

That’s actually A GOOD THING.

The problem isn’t that players don’t want to choose things, it’s that they don’t want their power-related choices to dictate their aesthetic choices. We’ve come a long way from the old days where we went around questing in clown armor because it gave us the highest DPS.

Agreed. Bellular plays it up as if he’s some great Game designer because he took a 6 month course and plugs is stupid homebrew game he’s making. In fact, he’s no better than anyone here.

If you’re making a “power related choice” and it impacts your aesthetic choice, then you’re not making a choice, you’re being a cookie cutter gamer reading things off some website and doing as it says.

I for one will pick my Covenant on my main based on Aesthetics. And it’ll be that.

And for the majority of players, that will be fine, but high-end players are gonna min-max. Why should they have to give up the covenant they might enjoy more in order to push the highest level content, when it would be so easy to separate gameplay from aesthetics?

You have 2 AOTCs dude. You might want to chill trying to speak for a crowd I hang in, as I’ve been Cutting Edge every tier for the last 2 expansions, and Heroic/Mythic raiding since Mists.

The numbers won’t be that far off. No, reading tooltips for DK abilities doesn’t mean squat. There’s a whole lot of other powers coming from Covenents on top of Alpha/Beta abilities quite often changing and getting number adjustments.

You guys are making a huge thing out of a big nothing burger. Let them design a game, rather than design an eSport for god damn once.

My problem with Legion/BFA/Shadowlands progression is that each system is designed to be taken away. So what works can’t be preserved.

I liked what Legion Artifacts brought to gameplay and progression. Despite what people say, I like some components of BFA’s Essence system. We lost the Artifacts which left a gaping hole in our classes’ gameplay. Also, I doubt we’ll be taking the essence system with us into Shadowlands.

I’m not as attached to any piece of gear (regardless of power level) as much as I do get attached to good gameplay. I hope we don’t have yet another system that we adopt only to leave it behind.

Do you want a cookie?

I guess if you can get cutting edge without optimal gear, then I guess you need to enlighten the mythic raiders on the forums who keep crying about how they’re forced to grind AP to be optimal.
