Why is an irrelevant old zone so important? This is your peraonal preference not something the game desperately needs

The Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor are not irrelevant. The game desperately needs to have a story that’s all encompassing to Azeroth, like Legion.
Since the Shadowlands, the story has been a giant, non-threatening disappointment with zero stakes that most players simply ignore because it’s neither engaging or interesting.
You can’t keep creating these islands out of nothing with world-ending disasters and not affect what is arguably the most populated continents on Azeroth.

There was datamining that blizzard is working on an inhouse system similar to weak auras or something like that. Idk if that’s what they are referring to, but it’s the closest I can think of.
I don’t disagree, but legion is a bad example. Outside of a few quests temporarily bringing us to one zone that xpac was purely in the broken isles and a different planet all together.
The last time we actually traveled in and quested in EK and Kalimdor was Cataclysm where we got new zones in there.
Heck even mists and BFA did more story telling on EK and Kalimdor than legion since we had faction war events and stories there.
The EK and Kalimdor update is coming though, Midnight will probably have some updates for silvermoon, the sunwell, and other elven related areas.
Personally I’d love another Cata style world revamp, but that’s not gunna be a popular take.

“You cant just invent landmasses” yes you can. Whoever designed this game over 20years ago and the franchise as a whole didnt forsee such a behemoth and they didnt plan everything in advance. New landmasses when done correctly make sense. Other than khazalgar everythinf has been hinted mentioned somewhere before they were added to the game

Not much but there’s been some new attention on Stromgarde with the Hearthlands stories and Crossroads likely explains the new tensions happening in those continents. Nine months away.
