Could use tips please. (Warlock addons and help)

So I am leveling a warlock and I could use some help in regards to addons for PvE and PvP. I find keeping up with all buffs / timers to be a pain at times. Trying to remember cast orders can get a bit overwhelming for me too. I’m still learning and can use any and all tips please and thank you. I’ve managed to level from 1 to 53 so far in about 20 hours of playtime, but it is getting tedious and I’m finding it more stressful than fun. Thank you for your time.

Well first thing Ill say is play the spec you enjoy most. Aff is the highest simming in raids but might not be fun for you due to the heavy management needed to get that dps. Demo and Destro are more middle of the pack but are perfectly viable to play outside of high end cutting edge mythic progression.

With that said… what spec were you preferring? They all play quite differently

Weakauras. It is a mighty addon though. If you’re new to it, I’d go to wago.io and use the templates there. The top raiders / PvPers post theirs.

Hell even if you’re not new to Weakauras I’d still recommend using premade templates. They’re just so good.

For PvP I try to put as much information on nameplates as I can. I just use those to track DoTs, so any addon there will help you tons.

Warlocks deal with some odd-timed CD’s, and we already have a lot of screen clutter to take care of. To deal with that, I use Doom_CooldownPulse. Basically just a massive icon that flashes on your screen for your finished cooldown. Non-intrusive and effective.

The biggest reason I take my eyes away from the game and onto the UI is to check soul shards, so I have an addon to keep that at the center of my screen. I use NugComboBar because I like the art, but a lot of common addons have a solution for this. Weakauras. ElvUI. Etc.

Imo #1 priority is Weakauras. I cannot stress enough how huge that addon is in all facets of gameplay.

e: wago.io is down for some reason rn rip

I have weakauras. Maybe I didn’t set it up right or something. I don’t get Warlock notifcations for some reason on what to DoT if it’s missing so I’m constantly watching / looking up and down all the time when in fights.

which package did you download?

i recommend Not’s WA, or Afenar’s

search those on Wago and download one of them, no tboth, thatd be a whole lot of UI

That’s because you haven’t seen mine

I don’t know about you, but Doom_CooldownPulse doesn’t seem to be working in Shadowlands.

kala’s isn’t bad either. i cycle in and out of those 3 mostly

Weakauras is the right answer to just about any addon question. You can program it to do just about anything and if you look around on the internet, you’ll find that someone already has.

Weakauras obviously is the winner here… but i would also look at some others.

A good nameplate addon. Seeing your dots clearly and prominently really helps for any lock spec. I use plater & can modify it so your dots will flash when about to expire. Can also do things like have a different colour plate for the inspired mob, have a bigger plate for the explosions so they’re easier to target, have important dots on different corners of the plate so they’re easier to track… and other things.

A good castbar is always nice as a caster. May use a dedicated castbar addon or just use a weakaura for the same.

Would be nice to know which spec you’re playing, but something which really helped me in the beginning is to orient my weakauras according to the key bindings. Top row keys on top, bottom row keys at the bottom. Gives a visual clue to your fingers. Specially helps in affliction.

UI is important for any wow spec. A lot of players don’t pay too much attention to it but starting off with the right UI & spending time customising it will automatically help you do better than most. Sounds like you’re aff… for which a good UI makes a world of difference.
