Could use a mail hit glove option

Having to go leatherworking to get hit cap is rough. The void touched chest invalidates the set that come with hit, losing you out on a percent of hit that you could otherwise get if you go leatherworking.

That superficially inflates the value of one profession when classic already has enough of that going on.

Add a mail glove hit option to the raid, or add 1% hit to on the mail glove options already there and that fixes this issue.

Spoiler alert: leatherworking gear is almost certainly going to be “better” for raw DPS stats than blacksmithing gear for the entirety of SoD. It was the same way in TBC, too.

If you care about survivability at all (you should) then stick with blacksmithing. If you make all of your gear choices based on what a simulator tells you is best for raw DPS, then you will want leatherworking long term.

That’s not really a valid counterpoint. I’m not talking about raw dps, i’m talking about hit. Tanks need to reach hit cap too and they can’t without taking those gloves right now. That’s fine for leather tank bears, but the other classes they have no chance.

Tanks need survivability options that have hit on them as well, there needs to be more hit options in the raid.

This isn’t retail or Wrath. Even if you are hit capped, you have a 20%+ combined chance to get dodged or parried as a tank. You can never even come close to eliminating randomness in Classic. It doesn’t matter nearly as much as you think it does.

Regardless: leather is probably a decent choice, even as a tank, because the mobs in BFD barely scratch you. If you’re worried about threat, then you might as well take more damage and get more rage.

There are abilities that ignore dodge/parry though, those can only miss if youre not hit capped

well rage is only a warrior thing, but also mitigating hit as much as possible should always BE possible.

It is possible. Wear the blacksmithing chest. I’m doing it.

Missing that 1% hit means that, when I’m fully geared, I will miss the target ~25% of the time (combined boss dodge + parry + miss chance after my hit from gear) instead of ~24% of the time while tanking. Oh no!

That… isn’t how the numbers for hit work… but ok.

Hit is a problem, and it shouldn’t be. Why you are defending a trash system i’m not sure, but you should probably stop.

Next phase, blacksmithing will get Truesilver gauntlets, and whatever epic version of that they add into the game, so it will balance out.

Just wait until then.

I mean yeah, but it’s a problem now that shouldn’t be.

Raiding without hit cap is literal trash gameplay.

It’s nilla classic man. You raid without hit cap. Casters literally can’t get hit cap. That’s just how nilla is. And it’s fine.

Though I agree it’s kinda funky I can’t use my 3 piece with my shiny epic chest armor.

~20% dodge + parry combined when attacking from the front. Can never be mitigated with gear.

6% miss if you are Orc/Human with proper weapons. This can be mitigated with hit.

~26% total

There is a total of 2% hit currently available, if you are leatherworking with the 3 set bonus. Losing one of them because you chose blacksmithing instead brings you to ~25% total miss chance.

You will never even come close to completely eliminating randomness in Classic WoW. At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. There are tanks doing sub-20 minute BFD clears with the blacksmithing chest. Clearly, it’s not holding them back.
